XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Infiniti Q45 (Y33) welding 1997-2001

The Y33 Q45 is not a small car. At close to 1.8 tonnes with a longitudinal V8 and a wheelbase built for boardroom comfort, it moves weight around in ways an FD3S or a Silvia never has to think about. Getting that mass to rotate on command, rather than plough or snap, is the whole problem this Drift Spec coilover is built to solve. Weld-in top mounts replace the factory rubber perch entirely, so the geometry stays locked under the kind of lateral load a full-size Y33 generates mid-drift.

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec range for competitive drifting specifically, not as a dual-purpose road-and-track compromise. On the Q45 that means a setup tuned to keep the nose planted through initiation while letting the rear step out predictably – the car’s size works against you the moment weight transfer gets sloppy, so the damping and spring combination here is chosen to fight that tendency rather than fight the driver.

What this coilover does for your 1997-2001 Infiniti Q45 (Y33) WELDING

Lower the ride height correctly with the available bump stroke and the Q45’s high factory centre of gravity comes down where it should – body roll drops, and the transition from grip to slide becomes something you can call rather than something that happens to you. Owners running this kit report the biggest single change is angle: the car holds a bigger, cleaner angle for longer before it either grips back up or spins out, which on a heavy RWD saloon like this is normally the hardest thing to achieve. The welded top mount removes the compliance you’d get from a bolt-in perch, so steering and chassis inputs translate into the drift line more directly instead of getting absorbed by rubber. None of this fixes the Q45’s mass – it just stops the mass from working against you.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec line is purpose-designed for drift competition rather than adapted from a road or circuit product. The construction stabilises body movement through high-speed cornering so the car can hold a controlled angle instead of pitching or wallowing as weight shifts. Ride height comes down using a proper bump stroke calculation specific to the chassis, rather than a generic drop, which is why the welded top-mount version exists for platforms like the Y33 that weren’t originally engineered around an adjustable perch. The result is a suspension setup that owners describe as giving genuinely excellent drift control once it’s dialled in on the car, with the angle and stability gains coming directly from how the kit manages body roll and load transfer rather than from raw spring rate alone.

Fitment for the Infiniti Q45 (Y33) WELDING (1997-2001)

This kit is built specifically for the Infiniti Q45 on the Y33 chassis across the 1997 to 2001 model years, in the WELDING top-mount configuration. Because the top mount is a weld-in design, fitment is chassis-specific rather than a bolt-in swap, so confirm your car matches the Y33 Q45 platform before ordering.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
