XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Hyundai ELANTRA 2000-2006

The third-generation Elantra (XD) is a soft, comfort-tuned saloon with a torsion-beam rear and a long, communicative-but-vague front strut setup – the chassis a circuit driver inherits, not the one they want. The Racing Spec coilover exists to throw that factory brief out and start again, treating the XD as a lightweight, front-drive shell waiting for a proper race damper underneath it.

This is not a fast-road kit with a track mode bolted on. Racing Spec is the spec XYZ Racing builds for time-attack regulars, circuit championship cars and owners running an XD Elantra as a budget-build track weapon – the people who already know their corner-weights and just want a damper that will not fade three sessions in.

What this coilover does for your 2000-2006 Hyundai Elantra

The XD’s stock dampers run out of control quickly under hard braking into a hairpin, and the front end loads up in a way that turns mid-corner throttle into understeer. A race-valved damper with proper rebound control settles the nose, lets the rear rotate on a trailing throttle, and stops the platform pumping over kerbs. You feel it first in trail-braking – the front tyre stays planted instead of skating – and then in how predictably the rear follows once you pick the throttle back up.

Ride height comes down to where the geometry actually works for a 2000-2006 Elantra on semi-slicks, and the spring-and-damper match means the car holds a chosen attitude through a long, loaded corner rather than re-settling halfway through. For a circuit-focused Elantra build, the difference between a budget coilover and a Racing Spec setup is the difference between surviving a session and being able to push every lap of it.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s pure-race damper, and the spec sheet is informed by direct participation in series including WTCC. Valving, spring rates and damper internals are derived from race-event data rather than catalogue assumptions, which is why the kit lands stiffer and more focused than the road-biased coilovers in the XYZ Racing range.

The Racing Spec line is also the entry point into XYZ Racing’s custom-build programme. For owners running aggressive chassis upgrades – aero, slicks, bigger brake packages, stripped interiors – XYZ Racing will build custom-valved shock absorbers around the car’s actual spec and the circuit it will run, in the same way it builds for factory racing vehicles and A-class race cars. Supply the build sheet and the venue, and the damper is matched to it.

In standard Racing Spec form for the 2000-2006 Elantra, expect a kit that prioritises body control, consistent damping under repeat heat cycles, and the kind of low-speed compression response that lets a front-wheel-drive saloon carry speed through long, loaded corners without the front axle washing out.

Fitment for the Hyundai Elantra (2000-2006)

This kit is built for the third-generation Hyundai Elantra (XD chassis), model years 2000 to 2006. Confirm your car falls inside that production window before ordering – the XD ran alongside the older J2/J3 platform in some markets, and the two are not interchangeable on damper hardware.
