XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Hyundai CUSTIN / CUSTO KU 2021-2026

The Hyundai Custin KU is a 1.9-tonne three-row MPV riding on McPherson struts up front and a multi-link rear, and the factory damping is tuned for school-run compliance rather than apex carry. Stripped out, caged, and run on a circuit – which is exactly what a handful of touring-class privateers have started doing with the KU platform in Asia – the standard setup runs out of damper authority almost immediately. That is the gap the XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover is built to close.

This is the most committed coilover in the XYZ catalogue for the Custin, drawn directly from XYZ’s WTCC programme. It is a circuit and time-attack tool first; road manners are a secondary consideration.

What this coilover does for your 2021-2026 Hyundai Custin / Custo KU

The Racing Spec carries the full XYZ damping adjustment range, so the kerb-weight reality of a long-wheelbase MPV can be met with the spring rates and rebound authority it actually needs – not a softened road compromise. On a Custin built for circuit work, that means controlled body movement through long-radius corners where the tall roofline normally loads the outside front into push, and enough low-speed compression to keep the chassis settled over kerbs. Brake dive is reined in, which matters on a vehicle this nose-heavy under heavy retardation. The trade-off is honest: ride quality on a broken B-road will be firm. This is a coilover designed around lap time, with the geometry compromises of a van-derived platform taken into account rather than ignored.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec sits at the top of XYZ’s circuit-focused range and the settings have been developed through direct participation in series including WTCC. The valving philosophy is race-led – high-speed damping authority for kerb strikes, low-speed control for chassis attitude on entry and mid-corner – rather than the road-and-occasional-trackday balance of the Super Sport or Top Sport tiers. Where this product genuinely separates itself is bespoke specification: XYZ will custom-build dampers for cars running aggressive aero, factory-style racing builds, or A-class touring specifications. Submit the build sheet – upgraded brake package, aero loads, expected tyre, target circuit – and the dampers can be valved around it. For a platform as unusual as a circuit-prepped Custin, that custom route is the difference between a coilover that works and one that fights the car.
