XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Ford MUSTANG 6 CYL 2005-2014

The S197 Mustang’s live rear axle means weight transfer under power lands differently than it would on an independent setup – every input at the rear wheels moves the whole axle housing, not just one corner. That’s exactly the behaviour competitive drift needs to control, and it’s what XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built to manage on this chassis.

Fitting the 2005-2014 Ford Mustang 6-cylinder range, this coilover exists for one job: hold the car’s attitude through sustained oversteer at speed, not just soak up bumps on the way into a corner. It drops ride height while keeping enough bump stroke in reserve that the rear axle can still do its work without bottoming out mid-drift.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2014 Ford Mustang 6 CYL

The coilover’s 3-way adjustment knobs let you set compression and rebound circuits separately, so you can tune how hard the rear axle loads up entering a slide against how quickly the body settles once you’re sideways. On a live-axle car like this Mustang that distinction carries more weight than on an independent-rear-suspension platform, because the whole axle housing reacts to throttle and steering input together rather than each wheel moving on its own.

Lowering ride height on this chassis also brings the centre of gravity down enough to sharpen how quickly the nose responds when you initiate a drift, while the retained bump stroke stops the rear axle crashing through its travel once weight shifts hard onto the outside tyre mid-corner. The result is a Mustang that holds an angle through a bumpy section instead of getting kicked off-line by it.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Pro Racing Drift Spec line around one specific job: keeping the car’s body stable through high-speed direction changes so a driver can hold a consistent, judged angle rather than just survive the corner. The 3-knob layout gives you independent compression and rebound adjustment, so the chassis can be set up toward stability or toward rotation depending on the track and what you’re trying to do with the car.

Inside the damper, the valving uses a small oil-hole passage design. On rough sections of circuit tarmac this can produce a faint noise as oil moves through the restricted passage under bump load – that’s a normal characteristic of this valving rather than a fault, and it has no effect on how the coilover performs. The kit is built around circuit-track use, where sustained high-speed cornering is the norm rather than the exception, so ride height and bump stroke are set up with that in mind rather than for daily-driver comfort.

Fitment for the Ford Mustang 6 CYL (2005-2014)

This kit fits the fifth-generation Mustang, chassis code FO15, across the full 2005-2014 6-cylinder range – the 4.0-litre V6 cars built from 2005-2010 and the 3.7-litre V6 that replaced it from 2011-2014. Check your exact build year against this range before ordering to confirm you’re on the correct S197 generation for this coilover.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
