XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Fiat 500 (Rear DRUM BRAKE) (EU) 2007-2026

The Fiat 500 is a featherweight on a short wheelbase, and that geometry is both its gift and its problem on a sealed stage. The car wants to rotate, but the standard dampers run out of travel the moment a mid-corner ripple or a kerb-edge compression arrives at speed. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover is built for exactly that fight: keeping a tiny, twitchy hatchback planted when the road surface stops cooperating.

This is not a fast-road kit pressed into rally service. It is a tarmac-rally damper with the bump absorption and rebound control to soak up uneven pavement, big compressions and kerb hits without unloading the inside wheel or pitching the nose into understeer. For the 500 EU chassis with the rear drum brake setup, that translates to a car that can finally use its low mass instead of bouncing on it.

What this coilover does for your 2007-2026 Fiat 500 (rr DRUM Brake) (EU)

The first thing you feel on a broken tarmac surface is the bump absorption. Sharp pavement edges and patched repairs that previously upset the 500’s rear axle get filtered into a single controlled movement, so the inside rear stays loaded under power. Traction off slow corners noticeably improves – the kind of corners where a stock 500 spins the inside front and hands you a quarter-second. Body control under braking tightens up too, which matters on a car this short: less pitch means more confidence trail-braking into hairpins. Ride height comes down to a sensible rally stance without burning through travel, and the chassis stops crashing over compressions the way it does on factory struts. The drum-brake rear axle keeps its geometry under load instead of squatting and washing wide.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally damper is engineered specifically for sealed-stage rally use, with settings developed from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme. Construction targets impact absorption first: the damper has the travel and the valving to ride out big bumps without bottoming, while suppressing the secondary shock that would otherwise unload the contact patch. Rebound control is tuned to keep the tyre pressed into the surface across rapid compression-extension cycles – exactly what a fast stage with kerbs, drain covers and patched repairs throws at the car. The brief from the factory is straightforward: maximise tyre traction on uneven pavement so the driver gets the handling response they’re inputting at the wheel. Every adjustment philosophy and damping curve traces back to live rally testing rather than a dyno bench.

Fitment for the Fiat 500 (Rr DRUM BRAKE) (EU) (2007-2026)

This kit is the EU-spec Fiat 500 application covering the 2007 to 2026 production span, specifically the variant fitted with the rear drum brake setup. Confirm your car runs drums at the rear before ordering – the disc-rear variant uses a different rear damper part number.
