XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Chevrolet CORVETTE C5/C6 1997-2013

The C5 and C6 Corvette were never built as drift cars, but their front-engine, rear-drive layout, transaxle weight distribution and lazy LS torque curve make them one of the more interesting platforms to convert. The factory transverse leaf-spring setup is the problem – it loads up oddly under sustained angle, the rear gets nervous as weight transfers across the car, and the front end refuses to bite when you want to initiate from speed. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the Chevrolet Corvette C5/C6 replaces that compromise with a system built specifically for competitive drifting.

This is not a fast-road kit retuned for sliding. It is a dedicated drift platform – geometry, damping curve and ride-height range chosen so a 1997-2013 Corvette can hold a clean angle through a long transition without the chassis fighting the driver.

What this coilover does for your 1997-2013 Chevrolet Corvette

Once the leaf-spring setup is gone and the Drift Spec kit is on the car, the Corvette starts behaving like a proper drift chassis rather than a GT that happens to be sideways. Lowering the ride height with the correct bump stroke pulls the roll centres back into a usable window, which is where the kit’s design pays off – the body stays settled in high-speed turn-in instead of unloading the inside-rear as you commit. Front-end response sharpens enough that you can initiate on weight transfer alone rather than relying on handbrake or clutch-kick to break grip. Mid-corner, the damping holds the car flat enough to feed throttle progressively, so the LS torque builds angle instead of just spinning the inside tyre. Coming out of transitions, the rear settles fast enough that you can swap direction without the car wallowing on its own springs.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is XYZ Racing’s purpose-engineered drift platform – the construction, valving and geometry brief is "competitive drifting" rather than circuit or street. The whole system is designed around stabilising the car body during high-speed turn-in, which is the moment most converted drift cars get loose in the wrong way. Spring rates and damper curves are matched to give the driver a perfect angle on entry and then hold that angle without the chassis wandering. Lowered ride height is part of the engineering, not a side effect: the kit is specified for use after the car has been dropped with the correct bump stroke retained, which is when the geometry comes alive and the controlled drift behaviour XYZ describes as "excellent condition" actually appears. It is a competition-led design, not a comfort coilover with stiffer springs.

Fitment for the Chevrolet CORVETTE C5/C6 (1997-2013)

This kit is built for the Chevrolet Corvette C5 and C6 chassis (code CH08), covering the 1997 through 2013 model years. It replaces the factory transverse leaf-spring suspension front and rear, so the install is a full conversion rather than a drop-in spring/damper swap.

Configure your Drift Spec coilover for the Corvette C5/C6 below – spring rates, damping options and ride-height window are all set during the build.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
