The first-generation CTS sits on GM’s Sigma platform with rear-wheel drive and an independent rear end, which is exactly where a quarter-mile run is won or lost. Power leaving the line has to load the back tyres cleanly before the IRS unloads and the contact patch goes light – and on a heavy rear-drive saloon like the CA01 that transition is everything. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built to control it.
This kit is set up specifically for 0 to 400 metre launches rather than circuit lap times. It lets the car plant weight onto the driven rear axle the instant the clutch or torque converter loads up, so the CTS launches square instead of squatting and spinning.
What this coilover does for your 2003-2007 Cadillac CTS I
The damping and ride-height settings are tuned to shift weight front-to-rear under hard acceleration, forcing the driven tyres into greater compression at the hit. On the CTS I that means more of the car’s mass loading the rear contact patches the moment you launch, cutting the idle time before the tyre actually grips. You get a more repeatable sixty-foot, less wheel spin off the line, and a settled, planted feel as the speed climbs through the traps. Because the platform is adjustable, you can set a launch-friendly rake on a CTS-V or keep a flatter stance on the V6 cars without changing the basic geometry.
About the Drag Racing coilover
XYZ Racing designed this coilover purely around straight-line drag work, and it suits FWD, RWD and 4WD applications – the CTS I uses the rear-drive setting. The core idea is dynamic weight transfer: the suspension is configured to move load between the front and rear axles in step with the driven wheels during the launch, then keep the car stable as it gathers high speed down the strip. By forcing the drive tyres into harder compression, the kit reduces the dead moment where a tyre spins before it hooks, which is where elapsed time leaks away. It is a focused, single-job piece of kit, not a fast-road compromise.
Fitment for the Cadillac CTS I (2003-2007)
This kit is matched to the first-generation Cadillac CTS, chassis code CA01, covering the 2003 to 2007 model years. It fits the rear-wheel-drive platform across the range, including the V6 saloons and the LS-powered CTS-V built in that window.
