XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW Z4 6 CYL (NON 3.2) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2009-2016

The six-cylinder E89 Z4 carries its twin-turbo straight six low and set well back behind the front axle, giving the car a near 50:50 weight split that rewards a driver who can load the rear axle on command. That’s exactly the trait a drift build leans on, and it’s why the XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover exists for this chassis rather than a generic fast-road kit.

This is the electronic-damping cancellation variant, built for Z4 35i and 35is cars that left the factory with adaptive EDC dampers. Swapping to a manual coilover on this chassis means dealing with the stock electronics first, and this kit is specced to do exactly that without leaving a fault code nagging at you from the dash.

What this coilover does for your 2009-2016 BMW Z4

Drift work asks for two things a stock Z4 doesn’t give you: a ride height low enough to shift the roll centre without killing suspension travel, and damping firm enough to keep the body settled through the transition from grip to slide. Independently adjustable ride height on this kit lets you set that drop with proper bump stroke still in reserve, rather than bottoming the shock the moment you load the outside corner. The damping range is tuned to hold body control through fast weight transfer – the moment when a RWD car either rotates cleanly or steps out too far to catch – so the rear end telegraphs what it’s doing instead of snapping. On a chassis with this much of its mass over the rear axle, that predictability is what separates a controllable angle from a spin.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec range specifically around competitive drift use rather than adapting a track kit. The core job is stabilising the car’s body through high-speed turn-in so the driver can hold a consistent, controllable angle instead of fighting body roll mid-slide. Ride height drops with proper bump stroke retained, which is what lets the chassis keep working through the compression a hard drift entry generates rather than running out of travel early. The valving is set up to sharpen the transition between grip and slide, giving a more direct read on where the rear axle is at any given moment. It’s a kit built for drivers chasing consistent, controllable slides rather than outright lap time, and the construction reflects that priority throughout.

Fitment for the BMW Z4 (2009-2016)

This kit fits the six-cylinder BMW Z4 (35i/35is, excluding the 3.2-litre variant) built between 2009 and 2016, and is the cancellation-kit specification for cars fitted with factory electronic damper control. Confirm your Z4’s engine and EDC status against your V5 or build sheet before ordering, since the standard non-cancellation kit is a different part for cars without the electronic damping system.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
