XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — BMW iX1 U11 4WD 2023-2026

The iX1’s electric motors put torque down through all four corners the instant you ask for it, and that changes what a chassis needs to do under load compared with a combustion-engined BMW crossover. Battery mass sits low but the kerb weight is still substantial, so body control on turn-in and under regenerative braking is where the standard dampers give up first. XYZ Racing’s Top Sport coilover kit for the U11 iX1 is built around that exact problem: keep the platform composed when the drivetrain is working hard, without turning the daily commute into a chore.

This is a dual-purpose kit rather than a full track-only setup. It’s aimed at owners who want sharper reactions for a spirited B-road drive or the occasional track day, but still need the iX1 to behave itself on a supermarket run.

What this coilover does for your 2023-2026 Bmw iX1 U11 4WD

Damping force on the Top Sport kit is raised roughly 30-50% over a standard road setting, alongside spring rates increased by around 2kg/mm. On the iX1 that translates directly into less float over motorway expansion joints and noticeably less body roll when you load the outside front tyre through a roundabout – exactly where the extra battery weight likes to push the nose wide. The stiffer spring and damper combination also suppresses the shock body’s own movement, so square-edge hits like potholes or speed humps land as a controlled thump rather than a wallow that carries through the next few metres of road. Because the iX1 sends drive to all four wheels, keeping consistent tyre contact matters more than it would on a front-drive-only crossover, and the increased damping force here is aimed squarely at holding that contact patch down under hard acceleration out of a bend. The net effect is a car that changes direction with less lean and settles faster after a bump, without the ride turning brittle around town.

About the Top Sport coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Top Sport range directly from its circuit racing programme, then adapted those settings for road use rather than building a street kit and stiffening it up after the fact. The core idea is to raise damping force and spring rate together, rather than one or the other, so the shock absorber can soak up a big hit – a pothole, a broken edge, a speed hump taken too fast – without the body pitching or the tyre losing contact with the road. That combination is what suppresses shock-body movement and keeps the contact patch loaded, which is where the traction gain actually comes from. The Top Sport spec sits between a fast-road kit and a dedicated track coilover: firm enough to reward aggressive driving and hold the car flat through a session, but not so stiff that it fights the road on a daily basis. It’s the setup XYZ Racing points to when a customer wants one coilover kit that covers both an occasional track day and the rest of the week.

Fitment for the Bmw iX1 U11 (2023-2026)

This kit is built specifically for the U11-generation BMW iX1, covering the electric 4WD model years 2023 through 2026. Confirm your car is the U11 chassis code before ordering, as coilover geometry and mounting points are specific to this generation of iX1 and are not shared with earlier BMW X1 platforms.
