XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — BMW 7 SERIES E65 6 CYL 2001-2008

The E65 7 Series carries a long wheelbase and a rear-biased weight distribution that becomes obvious the moment grip drops away – on wet tarmac, packed snow or a loose gravel surface, that mass keeps travelling after the front end has already changed direction. The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built specifically around that problem, with extended-travel struts front and rear designed to keep the wheel following the road rather than skipping across it.

Where a standard track-focused coilover trades travel for outright stiffness, this kit does the opposite. On a car this heavy, running at the limit on low-grip surfaces, stability comes from the suspension staying in contact with the ground through every compression – which is exactly what the longer stroke here is set up to do.

What this coilover does for your 2001-2008 Bmw 7 Series E65 6 CYL

Fitted to the E65’s long rear overhang, the extra front and rear travel gives the chassis more room to absorb compressions before it runs out of stroke, which keeps the car composed over rough or undulating surfaces instead of pitching. The larger internal oil and nitrogen gas volume matters on a car this size and this heavy: it takes longer for the shock to build up heat during sustained hard driving, so damping stays consistent instead of fading as the oil temperature climbs. The three external adjustment knobs let you set compression and rebound separately for the surface in front of you, softening off for loose gravel or winding the damping up for a firmer, more controlled feel on packed snow or wet tarmac. For a car that spends real time away from smooth asphalt, that combination of travel, thermal headroom and adjustability is what keeps the E65 planted rather than skating.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is a rally and rally-cross damper first, built with longer stroke both front and rear to give the car a bigger buffer against sudden compressions on rough terrain. XYZ Racing has increased the internal suspension oil and nitrogen gas capacity over a standard road coilover, which helps the shock resist the oil overheating that comes with long, hard stints and keeps the damping characteristics from drifting as a session goes on. Each corner carries three external adjustment knobs, and the small-bore oil passages that make that fine adjustment possible can produce a faint noise when the car crosses sharp bumps – that’s the valving working as intended, not a fault. It’s a design built around abuse over rough, low-grip ground, whether that’s a forest stage or a genuinely poor road surface in winter.

Fitment for the BMW 7 Series E65 (2001-2008)

Built for the BMW 7 Series E65, chassis code BM48, across the 6-cylinder engine range produced between 2001 and 2008. Confirm your build year and engine variant against this range before ordering, as strut lengths are matched to the E65’s specific chassis geometry.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
