XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — BMW 5 SERIES E60 6 CYL 2003-2010

The E60 5 Series carries a lot of weight over the rear axle, and on loose surfaces that mass moves the instant grip drops – a rutted forest stage or a snow-packed hairpin will unload the inside rear wheel before you’ve finished turning in. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the BMW 5 Series E60 is built around that exact problem: rally and rallycross use, where the surface underneath the car never stays flat for more than a few metres.

Where a circuit coilover chases minimum ride height and instant turn-in, this kit chases suspension travel and thermal stability instead, because on a stage the damper is working constantly and has nowhere to shed heat between hits.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2010 BMW 5 Series E60

Longer front and rear travel gives the E60’s chassis a bigger buffer before the suspension runs out of movement over compressions and jumps, which matters on a car this heavy when a rear wheel drops into a rut mid-corner. The larger internal reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas keeps damping force consistent as the shock heats up over a long stage rather than fading lap after a hard section, which on a rear-wheel-drive 6-cylinder saloon is the difference between predictable rotation and a sudden snap. The three external adjustment knobs let you retune compression and rebound between a gravel special and an icy transit stage without pulling the dampers apart. Together that means the E60’s rear end stays loaded and controllable when the surface underneath it keeps changing.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is a damper built specifically for rally and rallycross rather than tarmac circuit work. The extended front and rear travel gives the car a larger buffer against sudden compression events, keeping it settled when a wheel drops into a rut or lands hard off a crest. XYZ Racing has increased the internal volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas over their circuit-spec dampers, which helps hold shock oil temperature down and keeps damping consistent through long, repeated-hit stage use rather than a handful of hot laps. The three adjustment knobs use a small oil-hole passage design, and on big hits that can produce a faint noise as oil moves through the smaller circuit – that’s a normal characteristic of this construction, not a fault. It’s a setup built for the constant, repeated impacts of loose-surface stages rather than the smooth, sustained loads of a circuit lap.

Fitment for the Bmw 5 Series E60 (2003-2010)

Built for the E60-generation BMW 5 Series 6-cylinder cars produced between 2003 and 2010, chassis code BM40. Confirm your build year and 6-cylinder engine variant against this range before ordering, as E60 suspension geometry changed across the model’s production run.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
