The E39 Touring carries more mass over its rear axle than the saloon it’s based on, and that extra weight sits directly on a factory rear end that was never built for repeated hard laps. Self-levelling struts sag, spring rates were chosen for load-carrying comfort rather than body control, and the car’s famous 50:50 weight distribution gets undone the moment you load a wagon with track kit and start pushing into corners.
The Circuit Master coilover kit replaces that setup end to end, giving the E39 4/6-cylinder Touring a suspension platform built around sustained circuit lap-time work rather than motorway comfort. It’s the spec to reach for if you’re taking this car to trackdays regularly rather than the odd sprint, and want the chassis to hold its line consistently through a full session.
What this coilover kit does for your 1996-2004 BMW 5 Series E39 Touring
With 9720 combinations of damping adjustment available through the kit’s three external knobs, you can set the front end firm enough to control the E39’s nose-heavy inline-six or straight-four weight under braking, then back the rear off enough to keep the Touring’s tail settled through direction changes rather than skipping over kerbs. Ride height is fully adjustable independent of spring preload, so you can drop the car to sharpen turn-in and cut roll without collapsing the wagon’s usable suspension travel. Because the valving is tuned for repeated heat cycling rather than a single hot lap, damping force stays consistent as brake and tyre temperatures climb through a session – the E39’s biggest weak point on a stock setup, where body control fades as the original struts heat up. The result on this chassis is a car that stops squatting under load on the way into a corner and stays flat through it, lap after the last one felt the same.
About the Circuit Master coilover
Circuit Master sits at the top of XYZ Racing’s range as the dedicated circuit-focused build, developed and run by XYZ’s own racing teams across international events rather than designed purely for road use. The 3-knob damper design routes oil through a deliberately small metering passage to deliver its 9720-way adjustment range with fine resolution rather than coarse steps – on rough sections of track or over expansion joints, this can produce a faint noise from the damper body as oil moves through that passage; that’s a normal characteristic of the design, not a fault. Monotube construction keeps the damping consistent as oil temperature rises, which matters more on a heavier Touring body than it does on the saloon. It’s built specifically for drivers running repeated sessions on a circuit surface, where a road-biased coilover would start to fade.
Fitment for the BMW 5 Series E39 (1996-2004)
This kit is built for the BMW 5 Series E39, chassis code BM125, 4/6-cylinder Touring wagon body, covering the 1996 to 2004 production run. Confirm your car matches this chassis code and body style before ordering, as saloon and Touring variants of the E39 require different rear geometry.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
Top mounts included with your kit
Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
Front
Pillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
Hardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
Rear
AluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
