XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 5 SERIES E34 6 CYL φ55 welding 1987-1995

The E34 5 Series carries its straight-six a long way back behind the front axle, and that weight distribution is exactly why the model became a drift-scene favourite: predictable, progressive slides rather than snap oversteer. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built around that trait, giving drivers a chassis that holds an angle instead of fighting to correct one.

This is a competition-oriented kit, not a fast-road compromise. It is designed to let a driver drop the E34 low, lock in a stable body posture through transitions, and keep the rear axle loaded predictably as the car rotates under power and countersteer.

What this coilover kit does for your 1987-1995 BMW 5 Series E34

Lowering the ride height on the correct bump stroke settles the E34’s body during high-speed direction changes, which is what lets a driver hold a clean, repeatable entry angle instead of the car pitching and hunting for grip mid-slide. The three external adjustment knobs give you a way to tune compression and rebound separately from ride height, so you can firm up the rear for aggressive kick-outs or soften it slightly for smoother transitions between gates. Because the kit is built around a φ55 strut body rather than a bolt-in cartridge, the installation is a welded-in job – plan for that when you’re building the car, not fitting it as a weekend bolt-on. Once it’s in, the payoff is a rear end that stays loaded and communicative through the sort of sustained opposite-lock work that road-biased dampers simply aren’t set up for.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

This range is built specifically for drift competition rather than circuit lap times or road comfort. The internal valving is tuned to stabilise the car’s body while it’s turning at speed, so the driver can hold a consistent, controlled angle instead of correcting a moving target. Ride height drops with a bump stroke calculated for drift use, and XYZ Racing states this is where the improvement in drift control becomes obvious once it’s dialled in. Each strut uses three adjustment knobs feeding oil through a small internal passage; on rough sections you may hear a faint noise from oil moving through that passage under big bumps, which is a normal characteristic of this valving design rather than a fault. The kit is intended for circuit and drift-track surfaces, where that noise is a non-issue compared with the level of control it buys you.

Fitment for the BMW 5 Series E34 (1987-1995)

Fits the 6-cylinder E34 5 Series, chassis code BM12, across the 1987 to 1995 production run. The φ55 strut body is a welding-type installation rather than a strut-insert swap, so factor fabrication time into the build rather than treating this as a direct bolt-in replacement.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
