XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES G82 M4 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2021-2026

The G82 M4’s factory electronic damping control is tuned to keep 1.7 tonnes of twin-turbo coupe flat and predictable through fast corners, which is precisely the opposite of what a drift car needs from its rear axle. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the BMW 4 Series G82 M4 replaces that closed-loop system with a fixed mechanical set-up built to hold the body settled while the rear end is loaded sideways at sustained slip angles.

This is the cancellation-kit variant, so the stock EDC wiring dependency is removed rather than worked around. That matters on a car this heavy and this powerful: without the factory electronics filtering every input for grip-driving stability, the S58’s power delivery reaches a wide rear track that stays consistent through the transition, corner and exit rather than hunting for a damping curve tuned for a road car.

What this coilover does for your 2021-2026 BMW 4 Series G82 M4

Dropping ride height with the correct bump stroke settles the G82’s centre of gravity and shortens the distance the body has to travel before the rear tyres load up, which is what lets a driver find and hold an angle rather than chase it. The fixed damping keeps that body movement controlled through the transition from grip to slide, so the car doesn’t pitch or wallow as the throttle goes down. Because the electronic damping dependency is cancelled outright, there’s no factory intervention softening the response mid-drift. On a chassis with the G82’s mass and the S58’s torque, that consistency through repeated transitions is what separates a controllable drift car from one that’s fighting its own suspension.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec range specifically around competition drifting rather than adapting a track-day coilover for the job. The core aim is stabilising the car’s body through high-speed direction changes so the driver can hold a precise angle rather than correct for one, and the valving is set up to do that consistently rather than soften over a session. Ride height reduction is paired with a bump stroke calculated for drift loads, not circuit loads, which is where a lot of generic coilovers fall short when asked to hold a slide. The result is a suspension platform that responds the same way on the fifth pass as it does on the first, which is the baseline requirement for scoring runs rather than one good lap.

Fitment for the BMW 4 Series G82 M4 (2021-2026)

This kit is built for the G82 M4 (chassis code BM118-1-C), covering 2021 to 2026 production, with a modified rear integration and the cancellation kit required to bypass the factory electronic damping control. Confirm your build year falls within this range before ordering, as the electronic damping integration changed across the G82’s production run.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
