XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES F33 4/6 CYL (excl. M-Technik. xDrive & EDC) 2013-2026

The F33 convertible carries a folding hard-top mechanism and noticeably more kerb weight than the F32 coupe it shares a platform with, so the shell works harder under compression before a stage ever gets rough. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built around that reality: a damper tuned to absorb broken tarmac and sudden compressions without letting the extra convertible mass unsettle the rear axle mid-corner.

This is a sealed-stage tarmac rally spec for the BMW 4 Series, not a fast-road comfort setup, so expect firmer control through both compression and rebound than XYZ’s road-biased ranges. It’s built for the RWD, non-M-Sport 4 and 6-cylinder F33 – cars running a passive damper arrangement rather than BMW’s EDC electronics – where a coilover replaces the factory unit outright instead of working around an adaptive control module.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2026 BMW 4 Series

Fit this kit and the F33’s extra convertible mass stops fighting you over crests and mid-stage compressions. The damper is calibrated to soak up the jolt from a big hit rather than pass it straight through to the body, which keeps the chassis settled instead of pattering across broken surfaces. That control also keeps the tyre loaded against the road surface through the impact rather than letting it skip, which is where the traction actually comes from on loose or damp tarmac. The result on a 4 Series specifically is less of the pitch and wallow a heavier convertible body is prone to under hard braking into a junction or a fast direction change, with the rear axle staying planted where the factory set-up would start to move around.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ built this damper specifically around sealed-stage tarmac rally use rather than circuit lapping or road comfort. Its core job is absorbing the impact of an uneven road surface and shrugging off the sudden shock of a big compression without transmitting that hit through to the body shell. Suppressing that shock keeps the tyre’s contact patch working properly instead of skipping across the surface, which is what actually delivers the traction and the composed, predictable handling a rally car needs when the road tightens up without warning. The damping character comes directly from XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme, so the settings reflect what has actually worked on stage rather than a bench-test compromise.

Fitment for the BMW 4 Series (2013-2026)

This kit is built for the F33-generation BMW 4 Series, chassis code BM75-9, covering 4 and 6-cylinder cars from 2013 through to 2026. It’s specifically for the non-M-Sport (excl. M-Technik) car without xDrive four-wheel drive and without factory EDC adaptive damping, since those variants run different geometry and electronics that this passive coilover isn’t mapped against.
