XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E90 M3 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2007-2011

The E90 M3’s factory electronic damping system was never built with loose surfaces in mind – it reads road inputs through sensors tuned for tarmac, and on a rutted forest stage or a washed-out gravel pass, that logic works against the driver rather than for them. This Gravel Rally coilover kit replaces the stock EDC hardware outright, and the cancellation kit wires around the electronic control loop so the S65 V8’s weight and the rear axle’s modified, fully-integrated mounting can be managed by manually set, mechanical damping instead.

Rally stages punish a shock absorber differently to a circuit. Compression events arrive in bursts – a rock, a rut, a sudden drop in camber – rather than the steady, repeated loading of a track lap, and the standard sedan geometry has to cope with all of it while still carrying the weight of a V8 up front.

What this coilover does for your 2007-2011 Bmw 3 Series

Fit this kit and the first thing you’ll notice is how the rear end settles after a landing instead of pattering – long-travel inverted-tube construction and the extended stroke soak up chassis vibration that would otherwise reach the driver through the seat and wheel. Under hard cornering with high lateral G, the platform holds its line rather than skipping across ridges in the surface, because the spring and damper combination was set specifically for aggressive, high-speed bouncy roads rather than smooth asphalt. The cancellation kit means the car no longer fights itself – there’s no electronic controller trying to reassert its own damping curve mid-stage, so whatever rate you dial in stays exactly where you left it. On the E90 M3’s nose-heavy V8 layout, that consistency matters more than outright stiffness: the front end tracks through braking zones on loose surfaces without the sudden weight transfer that catches out an underdamped setup, and the rear stays planted through transitions where a stock sedan would step out.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built this damper specifically around rally and rallycross use, where surface conditions swing from sandstone to snow to silt inside a single stage – arguably the most demanding road condition any of their racing disciplines cover. The inverted-tube layout was chosen so the design can adapt across those different surfaces rather than being optimised for one. Stroke length and spring length are both extended beyond a road or track-day spec, giving the damper room to absorb chassis vibration and repeated high-speed impacts without bottoming out, and to manage the extreme G-forces that build through a committed rally corner. Every spring rate offered in this range has been set using data from an active rally racing team rather than bench-tested in isolation, which is why the damping characteristics hold together at the kind of loading a gravel stage actually generates rather than what a lab simulation predicts.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series (2007-2011)

This kit is built for the E90-chassis 3 Series in the M3, modified rear-integrated configuration, covering the 2007 to 2011 production run. Because the car left the factory with electronic damping, the cancellation kit is included as standard with this fitment so the mechanical dampers can run independently of the OEM control unit – no additional part is needed to disable the EDC wiring.

Select your spring rate and configure the exact Gravel Rally spec for your E90 M3 below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
