XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E90 4 CYL 2005-2011

The E90 3 Series is rear-wheel drive, and at the drag strip that means one thing above all others: getting weight onto the back axle in the first tenth of a second off the line. A fast-road or track coilover setting isn’t built around that problem, it’s built around cornering balance instead. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover for the BM62-chassis E90 (2005-2011, 4-cylinder cars) is built around launch traction from the ground up.

This is a straight-line suspension, not a cornering one. Every adjustment on this kit exists to load the rear tyres the instant the clutch drops or the transmission brake releases, and to hold that load steady through a 0-400m pass rather than through a bend.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2011 BMW 3 Series E90 4 Cyl

Fit this kit to your E90 and the difference shows up in how much rear tyre contact patch you get under hard acceleration. The setup shifts weight rearward onto the driven wheels the moment you get on the throttle, which matters on a four-cylinder E90 trying to put power down through a comparatively narrow factory rear track. Less wheel spin off the line means less time spent catching the car mid-launch and more of the run spent actually accelerating. Because the geometry change happens at the moment of launch rather than building progressively, the chassis settles into its launch attitude before the tyre has finished breaking traction, not after it. That’s the difference between a clean 60-foot time and one lost to a spinning rear axle.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drag Racing coilover specifically for 0-400m straight-line runs, and the same platform is used across front-, rear- and four-wheel-drive cars by changing how it’s configured rather than swapping hardware. On a rear-driven E90 that means setting the kit up to push weight onto the wheels the transmission actually drives at the moment of launch, rather than splitting it evenly front to rear the way a road-biased coilover would. That extra loading forces greater compression through the driven tyre’s contact patch, which is what cuts down the wheel spin, or idle time as XYZ Racing describes it, between the light going green and the car actually moving. The kit is also set up to hold that stability once the car’s up to speed, so the rear axle isn’t hunting for grip in the back half of a run the way an under-damped setup would.

Fitment for the BMW 3 Series E90 (2005-2011)

This kit is mapped to the BM62 chassis code, covering four-cylinder E90 3 Series saloons built between 2005 and 2011. It’s specific to the 4-cylinder engine variant of the range, so check your engine code against the fitment guide before ordering if your car sits close to either end of that production window.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
