XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E46 4 CYL (Modified Rear Integrated) 1998-2005

The E46 3 Series’ four-cylinder cars – 316i, 318i and 320i – carry noticeably less weight over the front axle than the six-cylinder 328i and 330i, which sharpens initial turn-in but leaves the standard dampers under-worked once cornering loads build through a chicane or a fast direction change. XYZ Racing’s Top Sport coilover kit is built around that gap: enough control for a Sunday morning track session, without turning the daily commute into a chore.

This kit is set up for the E46’s modified rear-integrated mounting, so the rear axle geometry stays exactly where BMW designed it rather than fighting an aftermarket bracket. Spring rates and damping are lifted well past factory settings, aimed squarely at drivers who want one car that can do a trackday on Saturday and the school run on Monday.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2005 BMW 3 Series E46 4 CYL (Modified Rr Integrated)

Damping force sits 30 to 50 percent above the E46’s street settings, which keeps the shock body from ballooning under repeated compression through fast corners and holds the tyre’s contact patch flat when the surface breaks up mid-corner. Spring rates climb by roughly 2kg/mm over stock, cutting the body roll that a lighter four-cylinder nose otherwise lets build up under trail braking into an apex. The result is a front end that loads progressively instead of diving, so you can carry more speed into slower corners without the car pitching forward and washing out the front tyres. On the road, that same increase in spring rate and damping keeps the E46 flat over motorway expansion joints and B-road compressions instead of wallowing through them.

About the Top Sport coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Top Sport line from its own circuit programme, carrying spring rate and damping figures across from cars that have actually turned laps rather than from a desk exercise. Compared with a street setting, damping force is raised by roughly a third to a half, and spring rates go up by around 2kg/mm – enough to absorb a heavy compression over broken tarmac without the shock body ballooning and losing control of the tyre. That extra control keeps the contact patch loaded when the surface gets rough, rather than letting the wheel skip across the top of a bump and lose traction. It’s built as a dual-purpose kit: stiff enough for aggressive driving and repeated track sessions on a BMW 3 Series, but not so hardcore that it turns punishing on a normal commute.

Fitment for the BMW 3 Series E46 4 CYL (Modified Rr Integrated) (1998-2005)

This kit is built specifically for the BMW 3 Series E46, chassis code BM26, four-cylinder cars from 1998 to 2005, using a modified rear-integrated mounting that keeps the factory rear geometry intact. Confirm your car sits within this four-cylinder E46 range before ordering, as six-cylinder E46 models use a different kit.
