XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E36 COMPACT 6 CYL TI (Modified Rear Integrated) 1994-2000

The E36 Compact’s six-cylinder Ti models carry a rear axle unlike the rest of the E36 range: a modified, rear-integrated semi-trailing-arm layout carried over from the E30, not the multi-link Z-axle fitted to the saloon, coupe and Touring. On the Compact’s shorter wheelbase that geometry moves more under load, which makes damper control at each corner more important than on a standard 3 Series, not less.

The XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover is built for exactly that scenario – full circuit and time-attack use on a chassis running racing-derived damping rather than road-tuned settings. It replaces the factory dampers and springs as a matched kit, giving the 323ti/328ti platform the height, camber and rebound control a track-driven Compact needs on a circuit rather than a B-road.

What this coilover does for your 1994-2000 Bmw 3 Series E36 Compact 6-cyl Ti

Fitting a Racing Spec kit to the Compact’s semi-trailing-arm rear end settles that axle’s natural tendency to move under load, keeping the rear contact patch more consistent through direct-drive corners and mid-corner bumps. Independently adjustable ride height corrects the nose-up stance the six-cylinder cars tend to carry and drops the centre of gravity, which matters on a chassis already shorter and stiffer than the standard-wheelbase 3 Series. Damping settings pulled from circuit racing rather than road use mean the front end resists dive under trail-braking into slower corners, and the rear stays planted on exit when the M52’s mid-range torque goes down hard. The result on track is a Compact that turns in with less lag and gets power down earlier out of the apex than it does on standard suspension.

About the Racing Spec coilover

XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec range is built specifically for circuit competition, with damping settings developed through direct involvement in touring car racing, including WTCC campaigns, rather than adapted from a road-going base kit. For cars carrying heavier modification – full aero, weight reduction, or drivetrain changes typical of A-class and factory-level race builds – XYZ Racing also offers bespoke valving: send through the car’s modification list and the circuit it runs, and the damper internals are built to match rather than sold off the shelf. On the E36 Compact that means a kit that can be specified for a mildly track-prepped 328ti weekend car or built out further for a dedicated time-attack build on slicks, with the same base construction and adjustment range underneath either spec.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E36 Compact (1994-2000)

This kit is specified for the BM21-3 chassis – the six-cylinder Ti versions of the E36 Compact built between 1994 and 2000 – and accounts for the Compact’s modified, rear-integrated axle layout rather than the standard E36 multi-link rear. Confirm your car sits within this chassis code and engine range before ordering, particularly if your Compact has had a rear subframe or axle swap.

Spec follows the BM21-3’s Ti driveline and its own rear axle geometry rather than a generic E36 setup – pick your damping and ride height below to build yours.

Racing Spec damper is specially made for track race, and all settings have been obtained from direct participation in racing event such as WTCC. In some circumstances, particular custom-made shock absorbers are available for those cars that have aggressive upgrades like factory’s racing vehicles or A-class racing cars etc…You may provide us with detailed info on all upgraded parts in your car and what circuit you will run, and we are able to make custom shock absorbers for your personal car.
