XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E30 4 CYL OE φ45 (Front Welding OE Rear Separated) 1982-1992

The E30’s snap-oversteer reputation didn’t happen by accident. A short wheelbase, a light nose and a semi-trailing arm rear axle mean the back end steps out predictably the moment you lift or feed in throttle – which is exactly why this chassis has stayed the default platform for competitive drifting decades after BMW stopped building it. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover kit is built to sharpen that trait rather than mask it, turning an unpredictable breakaway into a controllable, repeatable one.

Fitted to the OE φ45 front strut mount (front welding, rear separated), this kit replaces the ageing factory dampers with a setup matched to sideways work: an aggressive ride-height drop, spring rates stiff enough to hold body control mid-slide, and damping adjustment fine enough to retune the car as tyres, surface grip and driver confidence shift through a session.

What this coilover does for your 1982-1992 Bmw 3 Series E30 4 CYL OE Φ45 (frt Welding OE Rr Separated)

Dropping ride height on the E30 lowers the centre of gravity and tightens the geometry window that decides how progressively the rear steps out under power – the difference between holding an angle and spinning out of one. Three-way damping adjustment lets you split compression and rebound response front to rear, so you can soften the front for faster initial rotation into a corner while keeping the rear firm enough to sustain an angle without snapping back mid-slide. On a chassis that’s already light over the front axle, that front-to-rear balance matters more than raw spring rate. Small ride-height and damping changes translate directly into a car that transitions into oversteer on your terms rather than the tyre’s.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built this series around drift competition rather than adapting a road kit to suit. The internals are tuned to keep the body settled through high-speed direction changes, holding the chassis flat enough that the driver can maintain a consistent angle instead of fighting roll mid-corner. Ride height sits low, but the bump stroke is calculated so the suspension still has travel left when a circuit surface throws something rough at it – lowered correctly, the drift control this kit delivers is deliberate, not a side effect of simply dropping the car. Adjustment runs through three damping knobs feeding fluid via a deliberately small oil passage; on sharp bumps that restriction can produce a faint noise as oil moves through it, which is a normal characteristic of this design rather than a fault. The whole kit is built around circuit-track use, where repeated hard inputs are the norm rather than the exception.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E30 4 CYL OE Φ45 (frt Welding OE Rr Separated) (1982-1992)

This kit is engineered for the E30 3 Series built between 1982 and 1992, specifically the 4-cylinder chassis variant using the OE φ45 front strut mount, where the front damper is welded to the OE mount and the rear is supplied as a separated spring and damper rather than a combined coilover unit. Confirm your car matches this exact front-strut and rear-configuration spec (chassis code BM05-1) before ordering, as BMW ran more than one strut-mount diameter across the E30’s production run.

Spec is everything on a drift build – pick your ride-height and damping settings for this E30 below and build yours to match how you actually drive it.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
