XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 1 SERIES E82 4 CYL 2007-2013

The E82’s short wheelbase and rear-wheel-drive layout give the 1 Series coupe a chassis that rotates quickly under trail-braking and throttle – useful on a circuit, but only useful if you can hold the resulting slide once you’ve provoked it. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover for the BMW 1 Series E82 (2007-2013, 4-cylinder) is built around that specific problem: keeping the body settled and the rear axle predictable once you’re sideways, not just composed while going straight.

Factory dampers on the E82 are tuned for ride comfort first, which means the body rolls and the rear steps out unpredictably the moment you ask for a big slip angle. This coilover kit is set up for competitive drifting specifically, with a lowered ride height and a bump stroke calibrated to keep the car settled through the transition rather than pitching and wallowing while you’re trying to hold an angle.

What this coilover does for your 2007-2013 BMW 1 Series E82

Drop the ride height correctly and the E82’s roll centre and weight transfer both change in your favour – the nose stays planted on initial turn-in and the rear stays loaded enough to keep power down once you’re past the transition. That matters more on this chassis than most, because the 1 Series’ relatively short wheelbase means weight transfer happens fast; a kit that’s too soft lets the body keep moving after the chassis has already changed direction, and you end up chasing the car instead of driving it. With the correct bump stroke set, the rear axle stays consistent as you catch and hold an angle, so counter-steer inputs produce the same response run after run instead of varying with how much the body has already rolled. The stiffer, drift-specific spring and damper combination also cuts down the wheel hop and axle tramp a stock E82 shows under sustained wheelspin, which is where a lot of otherwise good runs come undone.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec range specifically for competition drifting rather than adapting a road or track kit to the job. The core aim is body control at extreme yaw angles – keeping the chassis stable through high-speed transitions so the car holds a clean, consistent angle instead of wandering as weight shifts side to side. Ride height is dropped as part of the setup, and the bump stroke is calibrated to match that lower height, which is what lets the suspension keep working properly once the car is loaded up mid-slide rather than topping or bottoming out. The result is a kit tuned around drift-specific loads – repeated big slip angles and sustained oversteer – rather than the more moderate body movements of a fast-road or grip-track setup. For the E82, that translates into a suspension that stays composed longer into a slide, giving you a wider window to adjust the angle before the car snaps back or spins.

Fitment for the Bmw 1 Series E82 (2007-2013)

This kit is built for the BMW 1 Series E82 in 4-cylinder configuration, chassis code BM56, covering the 2007 to 2013 model years. Confirm your car matches this chassis code and engine configuration before ordering, as the E82 range spans multiple engine layouts across its production run.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
