XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Audi A3 SPORTBACK 8Y φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) 2020-2026

The A3 Sportback 8Y sold with the multi-link rear axle – the quattro and higher-output end of this chassis range, rather than the torsion-beam FWD cars – already carries more rear-end control than the entry-level version, and that difference shows up nowhere more than on the start line. Weight transfer under hard launch is a chassis problem before it’s a tyre problem, and the standard suspension on this car was never set up to manage it.

XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover is built around that exact moment: the half-second between staging and full bite, where ride height and damping decide whether your driven wheels hook up or spin. Fitted to the A3 Sportback, it turns a car built for daily quattro grip into one you can stage with intent.

What this coilover does for your 2020-2026 Audi A3 Sportback

Independent ride height adjustment front and rear lets you load weight onto the driven axle in the instant you release the clutch or brake-torque off the line, which is the single biggest factor in how cleanly an A3 Sportback launches. On a quattro car with the multi-link rear, that means you can bias the setup to get all four corners compressing together rather than the front squatting while the rear stays light. Firmer low-speed damping control cuts the amount of wheel travel wasted before the tyre actually starts driving, so less of your launch goes into suspension movement and more goes into forward motion. Once the car’s rolling, the same damping keeps the body settled through the gearchanges instead of pitching and wallowing at speed, which matters as much on a fast Sportback as it does on anything with a roll cage.

About the Drag Racing coilover

This range is built specifically for 0-400 metre acceleration runs, not circuit lap times, and it’s designed to work across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms rather than one drivetrain layout. The core idea is ride height and preload tuned so the car can shift its front-to-rear weight balance toward whichever wheels are doing the driving the instant you launch, which for a quattro A3 means getting real compression into the rear tyres rather than leaving them under-loaded while the fronts do all the work. That extra compression is what shortens the time the tyre spends spinning before it actually grips the tarmac – less wasted rotation, more usable traction in the first few metres, which is where a drag run is won or lost. Once you’re up to speed, the same setup is tuned to keep the car composed rather than nervous, so a fast run doesn’t come with a twitchy back end at the top of the strip.

Fitment for the Audi A3 Sportback (2020-2026)

Built for the Audi A3 Sportback 8Y, chassis code AU12-9, covering the 2020 to 2026 model years fitted with the multi-link rear suspension and Φ50 shock body. Confirm your A3 Sportback carries the multi-link rear axle rather than the torsion-beam FWD setup before ordering, as the two use different rear suspension geometry.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
