XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Audi A3 SPORTBACK 8Y φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated 2020-2026

Loose gravel and snow don’t punish outright grip so much as they punish a chassis that can’t keep its wheels in contact with the ground. The A3 Sportback 8Y’s multi-link rear axle already has more built-in compliance than a simple torsion beam, and the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built to use that geometry properly rather than fight it.

XYZ Racing’s Gravel/Snow spec swaps in a rally-honed damper matched to the 8Y’s φ50 strut diameter, with the extra wheel travel and oil capacity that low-grip, high-compression surfaces demand. It’s aimed at drivers running this A3 Sportback on loose stages or snow events, not chasing lap times on slicks.

What this coilover does for your 2020-2026 Audi A3 Sportback

On loose surfaces the biggest threat to consistent traction is a damper that runs out of travel or cooks its oil under repeated big hits, and this kit is built around solving both. Longer-travel front and rear struts give the 8Y’s suspension a bigger buffer before it bottoms out over ruts and washboard, keeping the tyre loaded and the car predictable through compressions that would upset a standard-length damper. The increased suspension oil and nitrogen gas volume matters most on repeated stage work or long snow runs: it holds shock oil temperature down over sustained use, so the damping you set at the start of a run is still the damping you have an hour in. Three external adjustment knobs let you retune front and rear independently as conditions shift from packed snow to loose gravel, without pulling the strut apart.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper for rally and rallycross use rather than tarmac circuit driving, and it shows in how the internals are specified. Both front and rear units run longer travel than the road-biased coilovers in the range, giving the suspension a bigger cushion before it tops or bottoms out over ruts, crests and compressions on loose ground. The reservoir carries a larger volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard-duty damper – the detail that matters once you’re several stages or several hours into a snow event – keeping oil temperature in check so the damper doesn’t fade as it heats up. Damping adjustment runs through three external knobs, each metering flow through a deliberately small oil passage; on hard hits over big bumps that passage can produce a faint noise as oil moves through it, which is a normal side effect of the design rather than a fault. It’s a damper built around durability and stable behaviour on loose, low-grip ground, not outright spring rate.

Fitment for the Audi A3 Sportback (2020-2026)

This kit is specified for the Audi A3 Sportback 8Y, chassis code AU12-10, built between 2020 and 2026, fitted with the φ50 rear strut diameter and multi-link rear suspension with the modified rear-integrated mounting used on this generation. Confirm your car matches this rear-axle configuration before ordering, as the 8Y range covers more than one rear suspension layout across its production run.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
