XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Audi A3 HATCH 5D 8P 4WD φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2004-2012

The 8P A3’s quattro layout puts drive through all four corners, but on loose surfaces that same Haldex-fed grip only helps once the suspension can keep the tyres in contact with the ground long enough to use it. Stock travel runs out fast over compressions and washboard gravel, and that’s exactly where this Pro Racing Gravel/Snow set is built to work.

Longer front and rear travel than the road-biased ranges in this line gives the 8P chassis a bigger buffer before the suspension bottoms out, which matters more on a rally stage than it ever will on tarmac. It’s built around rally and rallycross use rather than circuit lapping, so the priority is absorbing repeated big hits without the damper giving up.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2012 Audi A3

Install this on an A3 8P and the biggest change is how much abuse the chassis can take before it starts skipping over rough ground. An increased volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas gives the damper more thermal headroom, so oil temperature stays under control through long stages or repeated rallycross runs rather than climbing until the shock fades. The 3-way adjustment lets you retune compression and rebound as conditions shift from hardpack to loose gravel to snow, without swapping dampers between events. On a 4WD chassis like the 8P, keeping all four wheels loaded and working is what lets the quattro system actually put power down through a rutted or slippery corner exit – this is suspension built to keep that contact patch alive rather than just stiffen the car up.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This design starts from a rally and rallycross brief rather than a circuit one. The extended front and rear travel is there specifically to give the car a larger margin over rough, undulating surfaces before the suspension runs out of stroke. XYZ has increased the internal volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas over a standard road-spec damper, which helps prevent oil temperature spiking and the shock losing performance after sustained hard use – a real concern on long gravel stages where a road coilover would cook itself. The 3 adjustment knobs use a small-oil-hole metering design; on big hits through rough sections you may hear a slight noise as oil passes through that restricted passage, which is a normal side effect of this valving rather than a fault. It’s built for circuit and stage work where bumps and compressions are a given, not an edge case to be tuned out.

Fitment for the Audi A3 (2004-2012)

Fits the Audi A3 Hatch 5D, chassis code 8P, 4WD models with the φ50 modified rear-integrated mount configuration, covering the 2004 to 2012 model years. Confirm your car matches the 8P 4WD φ50 rear-integrated spec before ordering, as mount design varies across the A3 range.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
