XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Audi A3 8V Φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated (Cancellation Kit forElectronic Damping) 2012-2020

The A3 8V’s multi-link rear axle changes the equation the moment it’s paired with Audi’s electronic damping control: compression and rebound are governed by a module that expects a specific electronic signature at each corner, and simply unbolting the OEM units leaves warning lights and a car that won’t settle. This kit is built around that reality. It pairs a Tarmac Rally-spec coilover with a cancellation circuit for the electronic damping, so the rear multi-link geometry gets proper mechanical control again without the ECU fighting the change.

For sealed-stage tarmac rally use, that matters more than on a road car. Stage surfaces are rougher and less consistent than any circuit, and a rally car needs a damper that can shrug off a sequence of hits without losing its composure between them. This Audi A3 build is set up for exactly that brief.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Audi A3

Drop this into a 2012-2020 A3 and the immediate change is how the rear axle deals with compression events. Where the stock electronic damping is tuned around comfort and small, continuous corrections, this kit gives the multi-link rear a fixed mechanical response calibrated for stage-speed inputs – sharp edges, sudden compressions, mid-corner ruts. The result is a rear end that stays planted through the kind of abuse tarmac stages throw at a car, rather than pattering or wallowing as the electronics try and fail to keep pace. Front and rear working to the same damping philosophy also sharpens turn-in response on the A3’s nose, because load transfer under braking and initial steering input is no longer being smoothed out by a comfort-biased rear. The cancellation kit itself is as much a functional part of the benefit as the damper – it removes the risk of dash warnings or limp-mode behaviour once the electronic units are gone, so the car’s other systems carry on reading the axle correctly.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally coilover is built specifically to survive and use the punishment of a rough, uneven road surface rather than merely tolerate it. Its damping is set to absorb the impact of broken and patched tarmac and to soak up the jolt of larger compressions – potholes, camber changes, mid-corner lips – without transmitting that shock straight into the chassis. That matters for two reasons on a rally car: keeping the body settled means the tyre stays loaded and in contact with the road, which is where the traction actually comes from, and a settled body is a predictable one, which is what lets a driver commit through a stage rather than back off for the next unknown surface change. The specific valving in this unit isn’t generic fast-road tuning – it comes directly from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme, carried over from what the team found worked when chasing stability and grip on exactly this kind of surface.

Fitment for the Audi A3 (2012-2020)

This kit is built for the Audi A3 8V, chassis code AU12-5-C, across the 2012-2020 production run, specifically for cars fitted with the multi-link rear suspension layout. Because the donor car’s rear axle originally ran electronic damping control, the kit integrates the cancellation solution for that system as standard rather than as an afterthought – confirm your A3 is a multi-link rear, electronically-damped example before ordering.
