Caliper render for this kit:

The first-generation Volvo XC60 carries most of its mass over the front axle, a transverse engine plus AWD hardware sat ahead of the bulkhead, which leaves the rear brakes doing the quieter share of the work until you load the car with passengers, a full boot or a trailer. The XYZ Racing Rear Brake Kit for the Volvo XC60 MK1 (2008-2017) targets exactly that shortfall: more thermal capacity and a firmer, more consistent rear bite for when the standard setup starts to wilt.
This is a single-axle rear kit, a matched pair of rear calipers and discs, so it works with your existing front brakes to rebalance a near-two-tonne SUV that was never set up from the factory for repeated hard stops. For fast-road drivers, regular motorway towing, or anyone who runs the XC60 fully laden down a long Alpine or Welsh descent, it keeps the rear end settled and the pedal honest where a heat-soaked stock disc would go long and vague.
What this big brake kit does for your 2008-2017 Volvo XC60 MK1
The added rotor mass gives the rear axle more thermal headroom, so it resists the fade that creeps into a loaded XC60 on back-to-back stops or a sustained gradient. You feel that as a pedal that stays at the same height and pressure rather than sinking as the brakes warm. Rebalancing braking effort towards the rear also helps a nose-heavy SUV stop straighter under load, reducing the front-end dive and that washed-out feeling when the car is full. With Street, Sport and Racing pad compounds offered, you can match the kit to a daily commute, hard fast-road use, or genuine track and towing duty. Caliper finishes from low-cost painted colours through to premium polished and candy options let the visible upgrade match the rest of the car.
About the Rear Brake Kit
The Rear Brake Kit is XYZ Racing’s single-axle braking upgrade for the back of the car, built around two-piece floating discs where an alloy bell carries a vented friction ring that can expand under heat without coning. The construction trims rotating and unsprung mass at the rear hub while increasing usable swept area over the original equipment. It is supplied as a position-specific rear kit, a pair of calipers and a pair of discs, so it pairs with your front brakes to shift the overall balance rather than simply scaling everything up. The forged calipers are hollow-bodied as standard, with a Hollow Racing option rated to 1000C and carrying a two-year warranty for owners who track the car hard. Three pad compounds cover the spread from quiet Street manners through Sport to a full Racing compound, braided stainless lines come as part of the kit, and the disc can be run drilled or slotted. The emphasis throughout is on consistent friction temperature and pedal feel on a heavy AWD platform that asks a lot of its rear brakes once it is fully loaded.
Fitment for the Volvo XC60 MK1 (2008-2017)
This kit is built for the first-generation Volvo XC60 across the full 2008 to 2017 model run and fits the rear axle. Choose your pad compound from Street, Sport or Racing, pick drilled or slotted discs at the same price, and select your caliper finish when you order. The centre bell can be upgraded to a two-tone anodized finish in five colours or to titanium. Only the rear-position hardware listed here is included, so it is designed to complement, not replace, your front brake setup.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
