Caliper render for this kit:

The 850 Turbo carries almost all its mass over the front axle – a transverse five-cylinder turbo slung ahead of the front wheels – so the instant you hit the brakes the car pitches forward and the rear goes light. The standard rear discs end up doing little until heat soaks into them and quietly unbalances the car. The XYZ Racing rear brake kit for the Volvo 850 Turbo FWD targets exactly that weakness, giving the back axle hardware that stays consistent once the fronts are working hard.
This is a rear-axle setup, built to pair with a front upgrade rather than work alone. Pad compound runs from Street through Sport to a full Racing friction material, so you can match rear bite to how the car is actually driven – daily B-roads, harder fast-road use, or repeat track sessions in a heavy 1990s saloon or estate.
What this brake kit does for your 1991-1997 Volvo 850 Turbo FWD
Fit the rear kit and the first thing you feel is balance. The 850’s habit of diving hard onto its nose is far easier to manage when the rear axle contributes predictable, fade-resistant stopping instead of dropping out of the equation. On track, the Racing compound resists the heat build-up that makes a tired rear caliper drag or lock, which keeps the back end settled into a corner rather than stepping out under trail braking. For fast-road work, the Sport compound gives stronger, more progressive rear retardation with more heat range, while the Street compound stays quiet and clean in traffic. And because caliper colour is a build choice, the hardware looks deliberate behind a set of period 850 alloys.
About the Hollow Rear Brake Kit
XYZ Racing builds this as a rear big brake kit specifically for the 850 Turbo’s front-wheel-drive platform, supplied as a matched left-and-right pair, with the name pointing to the hollow-vane disc construction that trims rotating and unsprung mass at the back of the car – worth having on a saloon that already asks plenty of its suspension. The two-piece floating discs run on a caliper that is hollow-cast as standard, with a Hollow Racing upgrade for track and competition use that drops the dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty. Three pad compounds are offered: a Street friction material for quiet, low-dust road use, a Sport compound for harder fast-road driving, and a Racing compound for track and competition. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price, and braided lines keep the pedal firm under heat. Calipers come in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black at no extra cost, with Custom Color in any Pantone, polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold or Polished Silver, and candy finishes in Teal, Blue, Red or Orange, so the kit can be specified for a tidy restoration, a sleeper, or a louder T-5R-style build. Because it covers the rear axle only, it is engineered to complement a matched front kit and restore proper front-to-rear brake bias, not to overpower a standard front end.
Fitment for the Volvo 850 Turbo FWD (1991-1997)
This kit is cut for the front-wheel-drive Volvo 850 Turbo built between 1991 and 1997, covering the turbocharged five-cylinder cars across the saloon and estate body styles of that run. It fits the rear axle. Confirm your car is the FWD Turbo variant, then choose pad compound and caliper colour to suit your build.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
