Caliper render for this kit:

The Phaeton carries its mass with the calm of a car built to a Bentley-adjacent brief, and that is precisely why its rear brakes lead a harder life than the badge suggests. VW’s D1-platform flagship sits comfortably past two tonnes, and on a long descent or a run of motorway stops the standard rear setup soaks up heat it was never asked to shed quickly. The XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Volkswagen Phaeton 4WD is built to take that heat and give it somewhere to go.
This is a fast-road and touring upgrade rather than a circuit conversion, matched to how these cars are actually used: covering distance, often laden, frequently in the wet. The lightweight hollow-vane disc trims rotating weight at the rear axle while opening up the surface for cooling, and three pad compounds let you set the bite to suit your driving.
What this brake kit does for your 2003-2016 Volkswagen Phaeton 4WD
Fit it and the first thing you notice is consistency: the pedal that used to go long after repeated hard stops stays where you left it. The hollow-vane disc sheds rotating mass at the rear, which sharpens response slightly and eases the working load on the air-sprung rear axle over broken surfaces. Pad choice is where you set the character – the Street compound keeps things quiet and clean for daily driving, the Sport compound adds initial bite and heat range for spirited road use, and the Racing compound holds friction at the temperatures a heavy 4MOTION car generates on a demanding road. Stopping a Phaeton has always been about managing heat over distance rather than a single heroic stop, and this kit is aimed squarely at the former.
About the Hollow Rear Brake Kit
The Hollow part of the name refers to the disc itself: a hollow-vane, two-piece floating rotor that cuts rotating mass and increases the surface area exposed to airflow, so heat builds more slowly and clears faster between stops. Supplied as a matched left-and-right pair, the kit pairs uprated discs with performance calipers sized to the Phaeton’s proportions, restoring rear braking authority on a car whose factory setup leaned heavily towards quiet refinement. The caliper body is hollow-cast as standard, with a Hollow Racing upgrade available for owners who want maximum thermal headroom, dropping the dust cover, rated to 1000C and carrying a two-year warranty. Three pad compounds are offered – Street, Sport and Racing – so the kit can be specified for anything from sedate daily use to hard fast-road work. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price, and braided lines keep the pedal firm under heat. The calipers are finished in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black at no extra cost, with Custom Color in any Pantone, polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold or Polished Silver, and candy finishes in Teal, Blue, Red or Orange, which matters more than it sounds behind the Phaeton’s open-spoke OEM wheels. Everything is supplied as a direct rear-axle fitment, so there is no guesswork over disc sizing or caliper clearance.
Fitment for the Volkswagen Phaeton 4WD (2003-2016)
This kit is specified for the four-wheel-drive Volkswagen Phaeton across the full 2003 to 2016 production run. It is a position-specific rear kit, so it can be run alongside a matching front setup or fitted on its own to address rear-bias heat. Confirm your wheel diameter clears the larger rear discs before ordering.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
