Caliper render for this kit:

The Mk7 Golf’s 1.6 TDI sits at the economy end of the range, and its rear axle was specified to match: modest discs sized for a light, frugal diesel rather than for repeated heavy stops. This XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Volkswagen GOLF 7 (2WD) 1.6 TDI rebalances that, adding rear braking capacity that earns its place on long descents, under load, or once a bigger front setup has pushed the bias forward.
Built around two-piece floating discs with a hollow-vane core to trim unsprung weight at the rear, the kit pairs larger discs with a fixed caliper and a choice of pad compounds. On a lower-powered MQB Golf running the simpler twist-beam rear, keeping mass off that trailing axle matters more than most owners expect, and this is the rear half of a properly balanced brake package rather than a cosmetic bolt-on.
What this brake kit does for your 2013-2020 Volkswagen GOLF 7 (2WD) 1.6 TDI
You feel the change as a firmer, more progressive pedal and a rear axle that does its share of the work instead of leaning on the fronts. The hollow-vane discs shed rotating and unsprung mass, helping the twist-beam settle sooner over mid-corner bumps. Three pad compounds let you match the car to its job: Street for quiet, low-dust daily commuting, Sport for harder road use and the odd track day, and Racing where sustained heat is the enemy. Caliper finishes run from the included Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black through premium polished-forged and candy options to any Pantone as a custom colour, so the visual upgrade is yours to spec without touching the engineering.
About the Hollow Rear Brake Kit
The Hollow Rear Brake Kit takes its name from its disc, a two-piece floating rotor whose hollow-vane core removes material to cut weight and aid heat shedding without sacrificing the swept area that does the braking. A fixed caliper clamps the larger disc more evenly than the sliding caliper most base Golfs leave the factory with, improving pad wear consistency and pedal feel. It is hollow-bodied as standard, with a Hollow Racing upgrade for harder use that drops the dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty. The three-stage pad range, Street, Sport and Racing, covers everything from refined road manners to repeat-stop track heat, and faces come drilled or slotted at the same price. It is a rear-axle pair engineered to complement a front upgrade and restore front-to-rear balance on a nose-heavy front-wheel-drive diesel.
Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF 7 (2WD) 1.6 TDI (2013-2020)
This kit is specified for the 2WD 1.6 TDI Golf 7 across the 2013 to 2020 production span and fits the rear axle as a left-and-right pair. Confirm your car is the front-wheel-drive 1.6 TDI variant rather than a 4Motion or higher-output derivative before ordering, as rear hardware differs across the Mk7 range.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
