Caliper render for this kit:

The Mk4 Golf Variant 1.9 TDI hides a heavy nose. A cast-iron PD diesel sits over the front axle, and the estate bodyshell adds load behind it that the standard front discs were never really asked to manage with the car loaded and stopping hard from motorway speed. This XYZ Racing front brake kit swaps that marginal front end for a larger, vented setup built to shed heat rather than soak it.
It is a front-axle upgrade aimed squarely at the diesel estate that does real miles: long descents, towing, repeated stops from a cruise with four up and a full boot. Fit it only to the 1.9 TDI Variant running the two-piece OE caliper, and you get brakes that recover between applications instead of going long on the pedal.
What this big brake kit does for your 2000-2003 Volkswagen GOLF 4 Variant 1.9 TDI
The first thing you feel is a firmer, more consistent pedal. A larger two-piece floating front disc gives the caliper more leverage and more thermal mass, so the bite that fades after three hard stops in a standard car holds on through a loaded descent. Pad choice tunes the character: the Street compound stays quiet and clean for daily running, the Sport compound sharpens initial bite for fast-road use, and the Racing compound takes the heat of repeated hard braking without glazing. On a nose-heavy front-driver the front axle does most of the stopping anyway, so this is where the upgrade money actually lands.
About the Hollow front brake kit
The kit centres on a two-piece floating front disc built to move air through its core and pull temperature out of the friction face. Paired with an uprated fixed front caliper, it raises both the swept area and the heat capacity working on the 1.9 TDI’s front axle. The caliper is a hollow body as standard, with an optional Hollow Racing version rated to 1000C, a two-year warranty and no dust cover for cars used hard on track. Three pad compounds are offered, Street, Sport and Racing, so the same hardware covers a quiet daily diesel or a harder-working car. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price, and the caliper can be finished in an included painted colour or a premium polished or candy option, with a two-tone anodized or titanium centre bell selectable at checkout, so the upgrade reads as deliberate behind a set of open-spoke wheels. This is a front-only kit; it leaves the rear OE setup in place and concentrates the gain where a front-wheel-drive estate puts most of its braking effort.
Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF 4 Variant 1.9 TDI (only for models with two-piece OE caliper) (2000-2003)
This kit is specific to the Mk4 Golf Variant 1.9 TDI built between 2000 and 2003, supplied as a pair of front corners, and only to cars running the two-piece OE front caliper. That caliper distinction matters: the mounting and clearance are set for it, so confirm which front caliper your car carries before ordering. Fitment is front axle only.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
