Caliper render for this kit:

The W221 S-Class is a near-two-tonne flagship, and the S 450’s V8 gives it the pace to match that mass, which is exactly the load the rear axle has to manage every time you wash off speed. This XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Mercedes Benz S Class W221 S 450 (2005-2013) swaps the standard rear setup for a larger, vented two-piece floating-disc package built to haul a heavy saloon down with less fade.
On a car this size, rear braking does more than shorten a stop. It settles the chassis and keeps the Airmatic-sprung body composed under hard deceleration. The kit is supplied ready for your choice of pad compound and caliper finish, so the spec follows how you actually use the car.
What this brake kit does for your 2005-2013 Mercedes Benz S Class W221 S 450
Fit the kit and the first thing you notice is pedal consistency: the larger rear discs and hollow vanes shed heat faster, so the bite on the first stop is the bite you still get after a run of hard ones. On a 2005-2013 Mercedes Benz S Class W221 S 450 that counts most on long motorway descents and repeated high-speed braking, where the standard rear setup can start to feel wooden. Three pad compounds let you tune bite and operating temperature to your use: Street for quiet daily refinement, Sport for harder fast-road work with more bite, and Racing for sustained high-temperature stops. More rear capacity also steadies the car under heavy braking, keeping the body flatter and the rear axle more planted, so a heavy flagship stops with authority rather than reluctance.
About the Hollow rear brake kit
The Hollow rear brake kit takes its name from its hollow-vane two-piece floating disc, which trims rotating weight and opens airflow through the rotor to pull heat out faster than a solid factory disc. It is a rear-axle big brake kit, a pair of rear discs and calipers sized for the W221’s mass rather than a generic fitment. Pad choice spans three compounds: Street for refined road use, Sport for a firmer everyday bite and wider heat range, and Racing for sustained high-temperature work, so the same hardware suits a pampered cruiser or a harder-driven S 450. The caliper body is hollow as standard, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade for serious track use, rated to 1000C with no dust cover and a two-year warranty. Discs are drilled or slotted at the same price, with two-tone anodized or titanium centre bells selectable, and calipers can be finished in no-cost Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black, premium polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold or Polished Silver, candy Teal, Blue, Red or Orange, or a Custom Pantone for 150 pounds. Each part is matched to the rear geometry of the S 450, which keeps installation a bolt-on job and the front-to-rear brake balance correct.
Fitment for the Mercedes Benz S Class W221 S 450 (2005-2013)
This kit is built specifically for the W221-generation Mercedes Benz S Class in S 450 specification, covering the 2005 to 2013 model years, and mounts to the rear axle. Confirm your chassis code reads W221 and that the car is the S 450 variant before ordering, as brake hardware differs across the S-Class range.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
