Caliper render for this kit:

Carrying around 2,200 kg with 388 bhp on tap, the W164 ML 550 4MATIC generates a level of kinetic energy that exposes the limits of factory front brakes on demanding roads. A fast Alpine descent with passengers on board, a repeated braking zone at a track day, or the sustained loading of a mountain pass are the moments when OEM stoppers begin to fade and the 4MATIC system’s confidence-inspiring traction becomes moot if the anchors are not keeping pace. The XYZ Racing front big brake kit is the direct answer to that front-axle deficit.
Supplied as a matched pair of left and right front calipers and two-piece floating discs, the kit scales to genuine use patterns through a choice of pad compound. The W164’s considerable mass means compound choice here carries more consequence than it would on a lighter car: the difference between a road and a track pad on a 2,200 kg SUV is measured in metres, not fractions.
What this brake kit does for your 2006-2011 Mercedes Benz ML 550 4MATIC W164
The two-piece floating, hollow-vane rotor reduces unsprung and rotating mass at the front axle, which the W164’s front suspension translates into crisper initial bite and sharper pedal response compared with the stock setup. The floating bell lets the friction ring expand without coning, and the enlarged thermal reservoir matters on a vehicle where the V8’s performance potential regularly outruns the standard brake specification, particularly under repeated heavy braking on long descents or at maximum payload. Pad choice sets the character: Street is the quiet, low-dust road default, Sport adds bite and heat range for fast B-roads and sustained motorway runs, and Racing is the track compound for circuit or hillclimb outings where the pad never fully cools between events. Disc faces come drilled or slotted at the same price, and the calipers sit properly behind the W164’s larger alloys.
About the Front Brake Kit
The rotor reduces disc mass relative to a standard vented design, lowering rotating inertia through the front axle and shortening the time the disc takes to shed heat between braking events. The kit is built for applications where the factory brake specification was calibrated around typical road use, not the sustained, high-energy braking that a performance SUV with a 5.5-litre V8 demands when driven hard. The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, light and stiff to resist flex, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade for hard track use that deletes the dust cover, is rated to 1000C, and carries a two-year warranty. Braided lines firm the pedal, and centre bells can be upgraded to two-tone anodizing in five colours or titanium at checkout. Included painted caliper colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are no extra cost, with a Custom Color in any Pantone for 150 pounds, plus premium polished-forged and candy finishes for colour-matched builds.
Fitment for the Mercedes Benz ML 550 4MATIC W164 (2006-2011)
This front big brake kit is built for the W164 platform, covering the ML 550 4MATIC across its full production run from 2006 to 2011 and supplied as a left-and-right front pair. The 4MATIC designation is reflected in the fitment specification, with the all-wheel drive system’s front-end hardware accounted for in the installation geometry. Confirm chassis code W164 and production year before ordering to ensure correct caliper bracket fitment.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
