Caliper render for this kit:

The W216 CL 550 is a paradox on four wheels: a near-two-tonne luxury coupe with the straight-line pace to unsettle much lighter sports cars, yet factory front brakes calibrated more for refinement than repeated thermal loading. When the 5.5-litre V8 is actually used, whether on fast A-road runs, hard motorway entries, or the kind of high-speed commitment the CL badge was always intended to enable, the standard front setup starts to reveal its thermal ceiling.
This XYZ Racing front big brake kit addresses exactly that gap. It is a matched pair of left and right calipers and two-piece floating discs. Hollow-vane disc construction sheds heat more aggressively than the OEM vented units, and three pad compounds spanning Street through to Racing specification mean the kit works whether the W216 is in daily grand-touring use or sees the occasional track day.
What this brake kit does for your 2006-2013 Mercedes Benz CL 550 W216
On a platform carrying this much mass, front brake consistency across successive hard stops is the limiting factor the factory spec does not fully resolve. Hollow-vane discs dissipate thermal energy between stops rather than accumulating it, which translates to more confident pedal feel when the V8 has been working hard. Reduced rotating and unsprung mass quickens response, and the two-piece floating construction controls expansion. The three compounds, Street, Sport and Racing, let you match the front end’s response to how the car is actually used, from a comfort-biased daily to a properly quick circuit visitor. Braided lines keep the pedal firm.
About the Hollow Brake Kit
This XYZ Racing front big brake kit’s core differentiator is the disc construction itself: material removed from within the disc body through hollow-vane construction reduces unsprung rotational mass and opens additional airflow paths for heat extraction. The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard. On a car of the CL 550’s kerbweight, that thermal advantage is most apparent in scenarios involving repeated high-speed stops, where the discs recover between events rather than carrying heat into the next. Street is the quiet, low-dust compound for owners who want the structural upgrade without altering the factory pedal character. Sport broadens the effective temperature window and bite for year-round UK driving, where cold and damp roads demand a pad that works before it is fully up to temperature. Racing is there for those committing the W216 to track days or timed events where a road-spec pad reaches its limit before the session does. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price, and an optional Hollow Racing caliper upgrade for serious track work drops the dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty.
Caliper finish is selectable when you order. Five painted colours are included at no extra cost: Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black. A Custom Color in any Pantone is £150, with premium polished-forged finishes in Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver, plus candy finishes in Teal, Blue, Red and Orange. Two-tone centre bells in five anodized colours, or titanium, are selectable at checkout, so there is something worthwhile to show behind the W216’s large-diameter alloys once the work is done.
Fitment for the Mercedes Benz CL 550 W216 (2006-2013)
This front brake kit is confirmed for the Mercedes Benz CL 550 W216, covering the full production run from 2006 to 2013. The W216 chassis spans both rear-wheel-drive and 4MATIC variants of the CL 550; verify your front hub dimensions and disc diameter against your specific build before ordering, as front-axle specifications can differ between driveline configurations at this end of the Mercedes range.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
