Caliper render for this kit:

On a front-drive Mazda 3 the rear brakes spend most of their life doing the quiet work, settling the car under trail-braking and holding stability while the fronts shed the speed. Push that same chassis through a circuit session, though, and rear thermal capacity is exactly what keeps the pedal where you left it. The XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the 2014-2018 Mazda 3 (TYPE I) addresses that directly, adding cooling and consistency to the axle that usually gets overlooked.
This is a rear-specific upgrade rather than a whole-car overhaul, which suits the SkyActiv-era Mazda 3 well: the factory front setup is competent, but the standard rear discs run short on heat capacity first under repeated heavy stops. Matching them with a two-piece floating disc rebalances how the car sheds speed and gives a brake response that stays predictable as the session wears on.
What this brake kit does for your 2014-2018 Mazda 3 (TYPE I)
The most noticeable change is pedal consistency. The two-piece floating disc pulls heat away from the friction surface faster than a solid factory rotor, so the bite point holds deep into a run instead of creeping long as the brakes soak up energy. Reduced rotating mass at the rear axle also trims weight from the unsprung corners, which helps the rear suspension track bumpy B-road surfaces and kerbs more cleanly. Because the kit offers three pad compounds, Street, Sport and Racing, you can match the friction level to how you actually use the Mazda 3, from daily commuting on the Street pad, through fast road on the Sport compound, to hard track work on the Racing pad, without swapping hardware. The result is a rear axle that contributes more to stopping the car and behaves the same on the tenth stop as it did on the first.
About the Hollow rear brake kit
XYZ Racing’s Hollow rear kit is built around a two-piece floating disc, with a vented vane structure that trims weight while keeping a large swept area for the pad to work against. That construction is aimed squarely at managing temperature: more surface area and better airflow mean the disc reaches a stable operating temperature and stays there, rather than spiking and fading. The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, with an optional Hollow Racing caliper for sustained track abuse that drops the dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty. The rear kit pairs those rotors with calipers painted in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black at no extra cost, with premium polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver, candy Teal, Blue, Red and Orange, or a Custom Color in any Pantone for £150, so the look matches the rest of the build. Discs are drilled or slotted at the same price, with two-tone anodized or titanium centre bells selectable at checkout. Pad choice is where the kit is tuned to use: the Street compound suits road driving, the Sport compound adds bite and heat tolerance for spirited road and occasional circuit use, and the Racing compound is there for sustained track abuse. Across all three, the aim is the same, a rear brake that recovers heat quickly and gives a repeatable, firm pedal. It is supplied as a pair.
Fitment for the Mazda 3 (TYPE I) (2014-2018)
This kit is a rear-axle fitment for the Mazda 3 (TYPE I) built from 2014 to 2018, supplied as a pair. It is designed to mount to that generation’s rear hubs and works alongside your existing front brakes or an XYZ Racing front kit. Confirm your exact year and trim above before ordering so the rotor and caliper sizing matches your car.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
