Caliper render for this kit:

The EK9 Type-R was Honda’s argument that front-wheel drive could be a weapon, not a compromise. The B16B’s 9,000rpm ceiling invites drivers to carry speed deep into braking zones, trail-braking hard on the nose to rotate the chassis through entries, and that approach places sustained thermal demand on the front brakes that the factory hardware handles less convincingly over the course of a full track session. The XYZ Racing front big brake kit is the logical upgrade for owners who use the EK9 as it was intended.
It covers the full 1996-2000 production run of the EK Type-R. Three pad compounds, Street, Sport, and Racing, mean the same kit can serve a fast-road car one weekend and a more committed circuit machine the next.
What this brake kit does for your 1996-2000 Honda CIVIC EK TYPE-R
Front-wheel drive concentrates braking forces at the leading axle in a way rear-driven cars never experience, and the EK9’s weight distribution amplifies that during hard stops. The hollow-vane disc dissipates heat faster than solid units, keeping fluid temperatures in check and maintaining consistent pedal feel through repeated hard braking. Sharper initial bite from the upgraded caliper improves trail-braking on turn-in, the technique EK9 drivers rely on to balance the chassis, carrying brake pressure deeper into the corner to encourage the nose to rotate. Street is the quiet, low-dust default; Sport adds bite and heat range for aggressive fast-road use or light track days; Racing is the dedicated compound for sustained circuit sessions. Discs are offered drilled or slotted at the same price, and the caliper integrates cleanly with whatever state of build the car is in.
About the front big brake kit
The disc’s hollow venting channels draw heat away from the swept face more aggressively than a solid-iron disc can manage. The kit ships as a matched pair of front calipers and discs. The caliper is a hollow-body design as standard, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade rated to 1000C, supplied without a dust cover and carrying a two-year warranty, for high-revving B16B track builds.
Three pad compounds let the buyer match friction material to use: Street for road and occasional spirited driving, Sport for aggressive fast-road use or light track days, and Racing for sustained circuit sessions where thermal management is the primary concern. Included caliper finishes are Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, and Anodized Black at no extra cost, giving the EK9’s wheel openings a purposeful look the standard hardware never delivered. A Custom Color in any Pantone is available for an added charge, with premium polished-forged finishes in Titanium, Polished Gold, and Polished Silver and a candy range in Teal, Blue, Red, and Orange above the painted set. Centre bell upgrades are offered in five anodized two-tone colours or titanium, selectable at checkout. The kit is front-axle fitment only, preserving the EK9’s existing front and rear brake balance rather than disrupting it.
Fitment for the Honda CIVIC EK TYPE-R (1996-2000)
This kit fits the Honda Civic EK Type-R, the EK9 chassis, across its full production span from 1996 to 2000, and ships as a matched pair of front calipers and discs. Confirm your chassis designation is EK9 before ordering; this fitment data applies to the Type-R variant specifically rather than the broader EK Civic range.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
