Caliper render for this kit:

The E39 5 Series built its reputation on the double-wishbone front suspension geometry that gave the platform steering communication BMW has been trying to recover ever since. The 523i sits at the practical end of the E39 range, and its factory brake specification reflects that position. The M52 and later M54 engines were willing machines well beyond 5,000rpm, but the standard front discs were sized for measured road driving rather than the chassis’s genuine dynamic ceiling. The XYZ Racing Hollow Front Brake Kit for the E39 523 addresses that mismatch directly.
This is a single-axle front kit, a left and right pair of calipers on two-piece floating discs. Available in three pad compounds, Street, Sport, and Racing, with a full caliper colour range, it gives 1995-2003 E39 523 owners a braking package that corresponds to what the suspension and steering were already capable of delivering. Everything is set at the configurator above.
What this brake kit does for your 1995-2003 Bmw 5 Series E 39 523
The E39 523i carries roughly 1,500kg, and the front axle absorbs the majority of that load under braking, as it does on most rear-wheel-drive saloons with a traditional north-south engine layout. Upgrading the front end first is therefore where the gains are most directly felt in day-to-day driving. The two-piece floating disc cuts unsprung and rotating mass and lets the friction ring expand without coning under heat. The Street pad is the quiet, low-dust road default; the Sport compound extends the kit into harder fast-road use with stronger bite and a wider heat range; the Racing compound covers track days and timed events where the E39’s well-resolved chassis actually rewards sustained commitment. Caliper finishes, from the included no-cost painted colours through to the premium polished and candy ranges, give a clean result behind open-spoke wheels, which the E39’s proportions carry particularly well.
About the Hollow Front Brake Kit
The XYZ Racing Hollow is a front big brake kit built for cars where the standard brake specification falls short of what the chassis can do on a fast road or a circuit. The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, keeping weight off the front axle, and the two-piece floating disc opens additional thermal paths over a solid casting. Three pad compounds sit within the same kit configuration, Street for everyday use, Sport for regular enthusiast driving, and Racing for tracked or timed work, so owners can spec the kit to match how they actually use the car rather than committing to a single-purpose setup. For sustained circuit duty the optional Hollow Racing caliper deletes the dust cover, is rated to 1000C, and carries a two-year warranty. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price, centre bells upgrade to two-tone anodized in five colours or to titanium at checkout, and the caliper finishes run from the included Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, and Anodized Black through a Custom Color in any Pantone, premium polished Titanium, Polished Gold, and Polished Silver, and candy Teal, Blue, Red, and Orange. The big brake designation reflects an uprated disc and caliper specification over OEM dimensions, making this a more substantial intervention than a pad-and-disc service replacement. The kit covers the front axle only.
Fitment for the Bmw 5 Series E 39 523 (1995-2003)
This kit is built for the E39 523, the 2.5-litre inline-six variant of the E39 5 Series chassis, spanning the full production run from 1995 to 2003. Coverage includes both the M52-engined pre-facelift cars and the later M54-powered variants that ran through to the end of E39 production. Chassis code E39 applies throughout; confirm exact fitment against your VIN if your car carries any non-standard brake or powertrain specification.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
