Brake pad compound

Street: quiet, low-dust, strong cold bite for road driving. Sport: higher temperature range and more bite for fast road and occasional track. Racing: maximum fade resistance for sustained track use (noisier and dustier cold). Match the pad to how hard you actually brake.

Disc size

Caliper grade

Hollow is the standard caliper: a lighter hollow-body forged caliper with a dust cover and a 5-year warranty. Hollow Racing drops the dust cover for sustained high-temperature use (rated to 1000°C, 2-year warranty) — the track-grade choice.

Caliper colour

Painted colours are included. Polished-forged finishes are mirror-polished forged calipers (Titanium, Gold, Silver); candy colours are a deep, mirror-reflection paint. Both are premium upgrades — fuller detail further down the page.

Disc style

Drilled discs (cross-drilled holes) vent gas and water and look aggressive; slotted discs (surface grooves) wipe the pad face clean and resist fade under sustained hard use. Same price — choose on looks or how you drive.

Centre bell

The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. Standard anodized is included; a two-tone bell adds an anodized accent ring in your choice of colour; titanium is the lightest, forged option.

Carbon-ceramic rotor

Carbon-ceramic rotors are a special-order track upgrade: far lighter than steel, fade-resistant at extreme temperatures and extremely long-lived. The price follows the disc size you choose above. The standard two-piece steel rotor is included.

XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit — Bmw 1 SERIES F21 (OE161) (2011-2019) — 330 mm
330 mm

The F21 is the rare modern three-door hatch that still sends its drive to the rear wheels, and that layout puts genuine work through the back axle every time you brake into a corner. The XYZ Racing rear brake kit for the BMW 1 Series F21 (OE161) gives that axle a larger, lighter rotor and a forged caliper, so the rear stays settled when the nose dives and weight piles onto the front tyres.

Whether your F21 is a four-cylinder car or one of the straight-six M models, the standard rear setup runs short on thermal headroom once you start braking hard and often. This rear brake kit is the answer for fast-road drivers and track-day regulars who want firmer bite and a pedal that feels the same on the tenth stop as it did on the first.

What this rear brake kit does for your 2011-2019 BMW 1 Series F21

On the road, the first thing you feel is a more progressive, better-supported rear contribution under braking, which steadies the F21 as it transfers weight forward. The two-piece floating rotor trims rotating and unsprung mass at the rear corners, something the 1 Series’ relatively compliant rear axle rewards with sharper turn-in and a keener appetite to rotate under trail braking. Three pad compounds let you match the rear to the job: Street for daily commuting, Sport for spirited road and occasional circuit use, and Racing for sustained heat on track. A wide range of caliper colours, including Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black and a custom Pantone finish, means the upgrade reads through the spokes without looking aftermarket-loud.

About the Rear Brake Kit

The rear brake kit is supplied as a matched pair of left and right rear calipers and discs, built around a two-piece floating, hollow-vane rotor that reduces the spinning mass at each rear wheel and helps the disc shed heat faster between stops. The disc comes drilled or slotted at the same price and runs on braided lines. It pairs that rotor with a stiffer forged caliper that resists the flex and taper-wear that dull a tired factory brake, holding the pad square to the disc for a more linear pedal. The caliper is hollow-body as standard, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade (no dust cover, 1000C rated, two-year warranty) for hard circuit use. The kit is supplied with a choice of three pad compounds, Street, Sport and Racing, so the rear can be specified for road, mixed use or circuit duty, rather than forcing a single all-or-nothing friction level. Included painted caliper finishes are Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black at no extra cost, with a Custom Color in any Pantone for a small upcharge, plus premium polished-forged (Titanium, Polished Gold, Polished Silver) and candy (Candy Teal, Candy Blue, Candy Red, Candy Orange) finishes, and two-tone centre bells in five anodized colours or titanium at checkout. Together the parts address the F21’s real weakness at the rear axle: consistent braking torque when the discs are hot, not just when they are cold.

Fitment for the BMW 1 Series F21 (OE161) (2011-2019)

This is a rear-axle kit engineered for the F21 (OE161) three-door 1 Series across the 2011 to 2019 production span. Confirm your chassis code and build year against your V5C before ordering, and pair it with a matching front kit if you want balanced thermal capacity at both ends.

Choosing your spec

Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.

Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing

Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.

Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.

Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing

Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.

Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish

Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).

Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.

Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells

The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
