XYZ Racing Super Sport Coilovers — Volkswagen JETTA MK4 φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) 1998-2003

The Jetta MK4 shares its PQ34 platform with the Mk4 Golf and Bora, and that means a nose-heavy four-cylinder or VR6 layout sitting ahead of the front axle. Trail-brake into a roundabout on the factory dampers and the front end dives, loads the outside strut, and the rear stays soft and disconnected from what the nose is doing. The Super Sport coilover is built to close that gap.

For the VO23-A chassis specifically, this kit uses a modified rear-integrated damper and spring unit matched to the Jetta MK4’s rear geometry, so the back axle can be brought up to match a stiffer, better-controlled front rather than lagging behind it. It’s aimed at fast-road driving with weekend track use in mind, not a car that only makes sense on a circuit.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2003 Volkswagen Jetta MK4

Ride height adjustment lets you correct the nose-heavy stance that comes standard on the Jetta MK4, levelling the car front to rear and lowering the centre of gravity for less body roll through direction changes. The 36-way damping adjustment means you can run the front end firmer to control that dive under braking while keeping the rear compliant enough not to skip over broken tarmac on a UK B-road. Because the rear unit is built to integrate with this chassis’s own rear suspension rather than a generic strut, the back axle responds in step with the front instead of arriving late to the corner. Push the damping up for a trackday and the VR6 or four-cylinder Jetta stops leaning on its outside front tyre and starts turning in on command; back it off for the drive home and the ride stays usable on real roads.

About the Super Sport coilover

XYZ Racing’s Super Sport line was developed to take the harshness out of a lowered daily driver without dumbing down its response. The damper’s 36-way adjustment range covers everything from a soft commuting setting to a firmer track-day tune, and the ride height is independently adjustable so you can dial in stance without touching spring preload in a way that upsets the damping curve. It’s built around the idea that a car has to cope with bumps and rough surfaces on the way to the circuit, not just perform once it gets there – the same set of coilovers is meant to do both jobs. For the Jetta MK4’s rear end, the kit is specified with the modified rear-integrated damper and spring assembly rather than a one-size-fits-all universal strut, so the geometry stays true to how this platform’s rear suspension is meant to move.

Fitment for the Volkswagen JETTA MK4 φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated) (1998-2003)

This kit is specified for the Volkswagen Jetta MK4, chassis code VO23-A, covering the 1998 to 2003 model years with the modified rear-integrated (φ50) rear damper and spring configuration. Confirm your car matches this rear-end specification before ordering, as the MK4-generation Jetta was sold with more than one rear suspension layout across its production run.
