XYZ Racing Street Advanced Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 φ55 (Rear Twist-Beam Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2012-2020

The Golf Mk7’s torsion-beam rear axle is the simpler, more compact set-up VW fits to standard and GTD-spec cars in place of the multi-link independent rear found on the 4Motion R. That simplicity means less inherent camber and toe adjustment out back, so the coilover doing the work has to earn its keep through damping and spring rate alone. XYZ Racing’s Street Advanced kit for this φ55-diameter twist-beam chassis is built around exactly that brief: a road-biased platform with enough adjustment range to sharpen turn-in on a Sunday blast and still ride properly on the commute.

This particular kit carries the cancellation module for cars that left the factory with electronic adaptive damping. It lets you fit a fully mechanical, manually adjustable coilover into a chassis whose control unit otherwise expects a DCC-compatible strut, without the dash throwing up faults or the ECU hunting for a sensor that’s no longer there.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Volkswagen Golf Mk7 φ55

Fit this to a twist-beam Mk7 and the immediate change is control over the axle’s tendency to move as a single unit. Because the rear beam can’t be adjusted for camber or toe independently, spring rate and damping become the primary tools for keeping both rear corners loaded evenly through a fast direction change, and 720-way damping adjustment gives you the range to find that setting rather than guess at it. Up front, where the transverse engine and gearbox load the nose hardest under trail braking, running a firmer compression setting cuts the dive that otherwise delays turn-in. Ride height is adjustable too, so you can drop the car enough to lower the centre of gravity and tidy the wheel-to-arch gap without pushing the geometry into worn-out bump-stop territory on rough B-roads. Because the electronic damping cancellation is handled at the kit level, none of this comes at the cost of warning lights or a DCC menu that no longer does anything.

About the Street Advanced coilover

Street Advanced sits at the core of XYZ Racing’s coilover range, developed over several years and carried through to competition use in racing worldwide before being brought back into a road-focused spec. The headline figure is 720-way damping adjustment, split across compression and rebound, which is a wide enough band to run a genuinely soft, compliant setting for daily driving and a noticeably firmer one for a track day without buying a second set of dampers. Height is adjustable independently of spring preload via a threaded body, so ride height and corner weighting can be set without changing the effective spring rate. XYZ positions it as the kit for drivers who want more than a fixed, one-setting lowering spring but don’t need the multi-way, remote-reservoir hardware of its full competition range. For a Golf that’s used on the road most weeks and occasionally driven hard, that’s the right amount of adjustment to have and no more than you’ll actually use.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 φ55 (Rr Twist-Beam Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2012-2020)

This kit is specified for Mk7 Golfs built 2012 to 2020 running the φ55 strut diameter and the standard twist-beam rear axle, not the independent multi-link rear fitted to 4Motion models. The cancellation module is included specifically for cars ordered with electronic adaptive damping from the factory, so confirm your car had that option before ordering. Chassis code VO20-7-C corresponds to this exact strut and rear-axle configuration.
