XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK5 φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2003-2008

A Golf MK5 asked to cross a rutted gravel stage or a snow-packed forest road needs suspension travel that a tarmac-biased set-up simply doesn’t have to offer. Compressions arrive faster and harder than on a smooth circuit, and the front strut and rear damper have to soak up that energy without the oil inside them cooking after stage after stage. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover kit for the Volkswagen GOLF MK5 φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated) is built around that specific problem.

This is the rally and rallycross-oriented member of the Pro Racing range, not a road or circuit product wearing a different label. Longer front and rear travel gives the chassis a bigger buffer before it runs out of stroke over a jump or a compression, and a larger internal reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas keeps the damping consistent instead of fading as the shock heats up over a long stage or a full rallycross weekend.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2008 Volkswagen GOLF MK5 φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated)

Fitted to this MK5, the extra wheel travel means the car can absorb a rut or a compression without the suspension bottoming out and transmitting the hit straight into the chassis. The increased oil and nitrogen volume matters most on longer events, where a smaller-capacity damper would start to lose consistency as the internals heat up; here the damping stays closer to where you set it from the first stage to the last. Three external adjustment knobs let you separate compression and rebound control front and rear, so a car running loose gravel one weekend and packed snow the next can be reset for the surface rather than left on a single compromise setting. The rear multi-link geometry on the MK5 responds well to that separated adjustment, letting you keep the rear planted under power out of a loose corner without the front losing its line into it.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is XYZ Racing’s damper built specifically for rally and rallycross use rather than tarmac track days. Both the front and rear units run longer stroke lengths than the circuit-focused Pro Racing kits, giving the suspension more room to work before it tops or bottoms out on rough terrain. Internally, the oil and nitrogen gas capacity is increased over a standard road or circuit damper, which is the mechanism that keeps shock oil temperature under control during extended off-tarmac use rather than letting it degrade and the damping fall away. Each corner carries three external adjustment knobs, and because the metering passages that control that adjustment are small by design, driving through heavy bumps can produce a faint noise from oil moving through them – that’s a normal by-product of the fine-adjustment design, not a fault. The kit is built to keep working through the kind of repeated, heavy-impact use that a gravel stage or a snow rallycross course puts through a damper, where a road-biased unit would be operating well outside its intended range.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK5 φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated) (2003-2008)

This kit is engineered specifically for the Volkswagen GOLF MK5 φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated), chassis code VO12-A, covering cars produced from 2003 to 2008. The "modified Rr integrated" spec denotes the rear mounting configuration this kit is designed around, so it’s matched to the MK5’s factory rear geometry rather than a generic strut-in-a-tube conversion.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
