XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen ARTEON 3H7 φ55 2017-2026

The Arteon 3H7’s long MQB-derived wheelbase and low, wide liftback body were shaped for autobahn cruising, not the crowned camber and broken surfaces of a closed-road rally stage. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover swaps the standard damping for a set-up calibrated around exactly that mismatch – big hits off cambered apexes, compressions coming out of crests, and a chassis this size needing to settle instantly rather than float into the next corner.

Where XYZ’s Top Sport and Super Sport ranges are built around circuit lap times or fast-road comfort, the Tarmac Rally kit is calibrated for stage pace on public-road surfaces: potholes, ridges, patched tarmac and shifting grip levels that a track-tuned damper simply isn’t asked to deal with. On a 2017-2026 Arteon φ55 running sealed-stage events or a fast cross-country route, that’s the difference between a car that skips over a bad section and one that keeps its line through it.

What this coilover does for your 2017-2026 Volkswagen Arteon

Fitted to the Arteon 3H7, this damper is calibrated to soak up the impact of uneven pavement rather than transmit it straight into the cabin – the kind of mid-corner ridge or pothole edge that unsettles a heavy MQB-platform liftback at speed. Across bigger hits, the damping is set to absorb the jolt rather than let it kick through the body, which keeps the tyre loaded and working instead of skipping. That control over body movement is what lets an Arteon this size put power down cleanly out of a stage corner instead of scrabbling for traction on the way out. The net effect on the road is a car that stays composed when the surface turns rough, with the front end tracking through direction changes instead of deflecting off every imperfection.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally coilover specifically around sealed-stage events, where the road surface is real tarmac but far from smooth – patch repairs, camber changes and mid-corner compressions define the pace, not outright grip. The damping response is tuned to soak up big, sudden impacts without the harsh secondary shock that a road-biased setup would let through to the body, so the chassis stays settled rather than pattering across broken sections. That control keeps the tyre’s contact patch loaded through the rough stuff, which is what actually delivers the traction a stage crew is chasing rather than a number on a spec sheet. The tuning behind this kit comes directly from XYZ’s own Tarmac Rally programme, carried across into a road-legal coilover rather than reworked from a circuit damper – which is why it behaves differently to XYZ’s track-focused ranges the moment the surface gets ugly.

Fitment for the Volkswagen Arteon (2017-2026)

Built for the Arteon 3H7 chassis with a 55 mm (φ55) strut tube, this kit covers the full 2017-2026 model run. Confirm your Arteon carries the 3H7 chassis code before ordering, as VW’s internal designation is the deciding factor for correct strut and mount fitment across this generation.
