XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Skoda OCTAVIA 5E WAGON φ50 (Rear Twist-Beam Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2013-2019

The Octavia Mk3 estate’s twist-beam rear end was drawn up for motorway miles and a big boot, not for hitting a compression at the exit of a hairpin on a closed tarmac stage. Add the extra unsprung weight of the Wagon body and the fact that this particular car left the factory with electronic DCC damping, and a straight coilover swap isn’t as simple as bolting on new shocks – the ECU still expects to talk to a damper that no longer exists. This kit pairs the Tarmac Rally coilover with the cancellation hardware that removes that dependency, so the car runs on fixed mechanical damping instead of software.

The Tarmac Rally coilover itself is built for sealed-stage work rather than the road: repeated hard hits over crests, camber changes and stage-surface irregularities that would batter a standard strut in a handful of runs. It’s the setup to reach for if this Octavia is heading onto closed-road events rather than a track day car park.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2019 Skoda Octavia

On a twist-beam rear axle, damping quality does more of the work than geometry can, because there’s no multi-link to help manage wheel control independently. This coilover’s damping is set up to absorb the impact of broken tarmac and mid-corner bumps rather than transmitting it straight into the beam, which keeps the rear tyres loaded and gripping instead of skipping across the surface. That matters on an estate carrying more weight over the rear axle than the hatchback: body movement under load transfer is checked rather than left to the standard damper, so the car settles faster after a compression and holds its line into the next turn. With the electronic damping cancelled out, adjustment is manual and mechanical – nothing you set can be overridden by a stability system trying to guess what a stage calls for.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally line specifically around sealed-surface rally use, where the damper has to soak up the shock of hitting a pothole or a broken edge at speed without kicking the body off-line. The valving is tuned to absorb that jolt rather than let it translate into body roll, and to keep the tyre’s contact patch loaded through it so traction doesn’t drop away mid-hit. The settings supplied come directly from XYZ’s own Tarmac Rally outings rather than a generic road-spec baseline, carried over into a shock body and spring package that holds its damping characteristics run after run instead of fading as it heats up. For this Octavia, that means a unit built to cope with the twist-beam’s rear-end movement and the estate’s extra mass without needing constant recalibration between stages.

Fitment for the Skoda Octavia (2013-2019)

Confirmed for the 5E-generation Octavia Wagon built 2013 to 2019, specifically the φ50 rear twist-beam suspension variant (chassis code SK21-C). This listing includes the cancellation kit required where the car left the factory with electronic damping control, so the standard DCC wiring can be neutralised when the mechanical coilover goes in.
