XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — Mitsubishi LEGNUM 4WD 1998-2003

The Legnum’s four-wheel-drive layout puts more hardware between the axles than the Galant saloon it shares a platform with, and the wagon body carries that extra mass further back than a two-box saloon shape ever would. Standard dampers on the MT31 were tuned to soak up that weight quietly, not control it through a fast, loaded corner. XYZ Racing’s Circuit Master coilover is built for the opposite job.

This is the range XYZ Racing engineers for sustained circuit lap-time work rather than a single fast blast on a B-road. On a Legnum 4WD that’s already carrying more driveline weight than most saloons in its class, that means a damper platform that holds its composure lap after the tyres and brakes have already given up heat, not just on the out-lap.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2003 Mitsubishi Legnum 4WD

With 9720 individual adjustment combinations available through the coilover’s three external knobs, an MT31 owner can set compression and rebound separately to suit the car’s AWD weight transfer rather than accept one fixed factory curve. That range lets you firm up support under the wagon’s extra mass through direction changes without turning the ride brutal on the connecting straights between corners. Ride height is adjustable independently of spring preload, so you can correct the nose-heavy stance a 4WD driveline tends to give a Legnum without touching the damping you’ve already dialled in. The result on track is a chassis that turns in with less of the float the standard set-up allows once the body starts working against the four-wheel-drive hardware underneath it.

About the Circuit Master coilover

XYZ Racing positions Circuit Master as its top track-focused damper, built alongside the Racing Spec, Drift Spec and Tarmac Rally lines but tuned specifically for repeated circuit sessions rather than a single competitive stage or a drift angle. The unit is tested through XYZ Racing’s own racing teams internationally rather than on a bench alone, and the 9720-way adjustment range is designed so one damper can be set up for a wide variety of circuits and driving styles instead of being locked to one track’s character. The three-knob adjuster uses a small internal oil passage to meter damping force precisely at each setting; that same passage can produce a faint noise as oil moves through it over sharp kerbs or track bumps. That’s a function of the fine-adjustment design, not a fault, and it doesn’t affect how the damper controls the car.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Legnum 4WD (1998-2003)

This kit is built for the Mitsubishi Legnum 4WD, chassis code MT31, covering the 1998 to 2003 production run. It’s specified for the four-wheel-drive variant of the Legnum rather than any front-wheel-drive version sold under the same nameplate, so confirm your car carries the MT31 code before ordering.
