XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz CLS C219 8 CYL 2004-2011

The C219 CLS carries its V8 well forward of the front axle line, and on a four-door with this much wheelbase, that mass wants to keep travelling in a straight line long after the front wheels have turned in. Getting a CLS to hold an angle through a sustained slide rather than just kick sideways and snap back means controlling that front-end inertia through the whole transition, not just at turn-in. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the Mercedes Benz CLS C219 is built specifically around that transition phase.

Where a road or track coilover is tuned to keep the body flat and the tyre loaded, this kit is tuned to let the car rotate predictably and hold that rotation under power – the two things competitive drifting actually asks for. Ride height comes down as part of the setup, and the bump stroke is set to match, so the chassis has somewhere to move without the front end diving into the bump stops mid-slide.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2011 Mercedes Benz CLS C219

On a car this size, body control through a drift is mostly a weight-transfer problem, and that’s what the Drift Spec kit is set up to solve. Lowering the ride height correctly drops the centre of gravity and shortens the distance the body has to travel before the suspension geometry starts fighting you, which is what lets a heavy CLS hold a locked angle instead of wallowing through it. The stabilising effect XYZ Racing designs into this kit works on entry, where you need the nose to load without diving, and again on the transition out, where a V8 CLS wants to snap the rear back in line faster than the front can catch up. Matching bump stroke to the lowered ride height keeps that movement controlled rather than abrupt, so the car’s rotation stays something you’re steering rather than something you’re catching.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec range for one job: keeping a car’s body settled while it’s being driven sideways at speed, which is a different brief to a track-day setup chasing minimum lap time. The valving is calibrated to stabilise the chassis through high-speed direction changes so the car settles into a clean, repeatable angle instead of see-sawing through the transition – the detail that separates a controlled drift from a car that’s fighting the driver. Ride height reduction is central to how the kit works rather than a cosmetic side effect: dropping the car and pairing that with a correctly matched bump stroke is what lets the chassis load and unload predictably as the angle builds and holds. On a heavy V8 CLS, that combination is what turns a car with plenty of inertia into one whose slide angle is genuinely adjustable mid-corner.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz CLS C219 (2004-2011)

This kit is built for the C219-generation CLS, chassis code ME22, covering the full 2004 to 2011 production run of the 8-cylinder cars. Front and rear units are matched specifically to the C219’s V8 weight distribution rather than shared across the wider CLS range.

For a C219 built to hold an angle rather than just look the part, configure your Drift Spec coilovers below.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
