XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz CLS C219 8 CYL 2004-2011

The C219-generation CLS carries over 1,800kg on a long wheelbase, and on a V8 model most of that mass sits high and forward until the opening metres of a run drag it back onto the rear axle. XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover kit for the Mercedes Benz CLS C219 8 CYL (2004-2011) is built around that transfer rather than against it. Where a track-focused set-up chases a flat, neutral platform through a corner, this kit is tuned to load the rear tyres the instant the car leaves the line.

This is a launch-specific kit, not a general coilover wearing a drag label. It suits owners running a heavy, V8-powered rear-driven four-door down a strip who need the chassis to behave predictably under wheelspin-limited acceleration, not lateral grip. Everything about the tune is aimed at the first sixty feet.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2011 Mercedes Benz CLS C219

Fitted to a CLS C219, the kit’s job is getting the car’s considerable mass onto the rear contact patches as fast as possible after launch, then keeping it there through the run. That means less of the car’s weight staying parked over the front axle wasting traction, and more of it doing useful work at the rear tyres where the power goes down. The result on the strip is fewer aborted launches from wheelspin and a car that tracks straighter once it’s moving, because the rear end isn’t unloading and reloading unpredictably. It’s a different priority to a road or track coilover on this chassis: ride comfort and mid-corner balance aren’t the brief here, straight-line weight transfer is.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing range is built specifically for 0-400m standing-start acceleration, and it’s set up to work whether the car putting power down is front-, rear- or four-wheel drive. The core idea is adjustable front-to-rear weight distribution: rather than a fixed setting, the kit lets you bias the car’s balance toward whichever axle is actually driven. On a rear-driven CLS, that means dialling more static and dynamic load onto the back of the car so the drive tyres compress harder the moment the clutch or torque converter locks up. Greater tyre compression at launch means less idle spin before the rubber bites, which is where a lot of elapsed time gets lost on a heavy car. The same set-up that gets the car off the line cleanly also keeps it composed once it’s at speed, rather than the rear end floating or hunting for grip mid-run.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz CLS C219 (2004-2011)

This kit is built for the Mercedes Benz CLS C219, chassis code ME22, across the 2004-2011 production run, covering the 8-cylinder V8 models in the range. Confirm your build year falls within that window before ordering, and check your specific V8 variant against the configurator options below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
