XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Jaguar XJ (X351) 6 CYL (Fr FORK) (OE FOR REAR AIR STRUT) 2010-2019

The X351-generation Jaguar XJ left the factory on air suspension at the rear axle, tuned for motorway cruising rather than sustained abuse over broken tarmac. Air struts sag, leak, and lose their consistency long before a coilover would, and that’s exactly the weak point a sealed-stage tarmac rally car cannot carry. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the Jaguar XJ (X351) replaces that rear air strut with a conventional coilover, matched to a front fork-strut setup for the 6-cylinder cars.

This is a full-car conversion built around one job: keeping a heavy, long-wheelbase saloon composed and predictable once the road surface stops being smooth. Where the standard air-sprung setup lets the XJ’s mass roll and float over compressions and crests, this kit keeps the platform flat and the tyres loaded, stage after stage of broken and patched tarmac.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2019 Jaguar XJ (X351)

Swapping the rear air struts for coilovers removes the tendency of air suspension to sag under load and vary its ride height run to run – a real issue when you need the same geometry on stage two that you had on stage one. The front fork-strut units work with the rear coilovers to keep the XJ’s nose settled under braking into tighter sections, cutting the dive that unsettles a saloon this size and length. Traction improves because the wheels stay in contact with the road surface over sharp edges and mid-corner bumps, rather than skipping across them on a soft, air-sprung rear end. The result is a big Jaguar that turns in with more certainty and holds its line through a sequence of direction changes instead of wallowing through the first one and correcting for the second.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built to cope with what a closed tarmac stage actually presents: patched repairs, camber changes, and the sort of sharp-edged bumps a road-going damper is never asked to absorb. The valving is set to soak up that impact without punching it straight into the chassis, so the body stays settled instead of being knocked off line by every imperfection. That control is what keeps the tyre loaded and gripping through a bump rather than skipping across it, and it’s the difference between a car that holds its stability through a fast section and one that starts to wander. The damping settings aren’t generic – they’re carried over directly from XYZ’s own Tarmac Rally programme rather than derived on a bench, and they’re applied here specifically to the XJ’s rear air-strut-replacement layout and front fork-strut geometry.

Fitment for the Jaguar XJ (X351) (2010-2019)

Confirmed for the X351-generation Jaguar XJ built between 2010 and 2019, covering the 6-cylinder engine range fitted with the front fork-type strut. This kit is specified for cars built with the factory rear air strut, which it replaces outright – check your XJ’s original rear suspension type against this listing before ordering, since air-strut cars and standard coilover-equipped cars use different mounting specs.
