XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Infiniti Q45 (Y32) welding 1991-1996

The Q45 Y32 was never built with a rally stage in mind – a two-and-a-half-tonne, nose-heavy luxury saloon riding on the VH45DE V8 and a long wheelbase, with factory suspension tuned for motorway comfort, not washboard gravel. That mismatch is exactly what a gravel-spec coilover has to solve: soak up compressions that would bottom a stock strut in seconds, while keeping that long nose settled through braking zones into a hairpin.

For a Y32 built for gravel-stage rally or rallycross work, the priority shifts from ride comfort to stroke length and durability under repeated abuse. This kit is built around that brief, not around daily-driver refinement.

What this coilover does for your 1991-1996 Infiniti Q45

Fitted to a 1991-1996 Q45, the long-stroke design gives the front and rear axles the travel to absorb ruts, compressions and mid-corner bumps without the chassis crashing through to the bump stops – a real risk on a car this heavy running factory-length dampers on loose surfaces. The inverted tube layout keeps the working parts better protected from grit and stone chips than a standard strut, which matters on stages where sandstone, silt or standing water are the norm rather than the exception. Longer springs paired with that extended stroke also help manage the Q45’s weight transfer under hard braking and through fast direction changes, keeping the rear axle loaded and the car pointed rather than pitching. The result is a chassis that can take a genuine hit – a compression off a crest, a rut mid-corner – and come back settled instead of deflected off line.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is built specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road surfaces are the most punishing XYZ Racing designs for. It uses an inverted tube construction to cope with the full range of loose-surface conditions – sand, snow, silt – rather than a single "average" road input. Stroke and spring length are both extended beyond a road or track-day coilover to absorb chassis vibration and to shrug off aggressive hits from high-speed, bumpy terrain, while still controlling the extreme cornering loads a rally car generates. Spring rate selection isn’t a generic off-the-shelf figure – it’s set from data gathered with a rally racing team, so the base rates reflect what has actually worked under competition loads rather than a theoretical calculation.

Fitment for the Infiniti Q45 (Y32) (1991-1996)

This kit is built for the Y32-chassis Infiniti Q45, covering the 1991 to 1996 production run. The Welding designation on this fitment indicates a welded-in mount rather than a direct bolt-in installation – confirm this against your car’s current mounting setup before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
