XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Infiniti Q45 (Y32) welding 1991-1996

The Y32 Q45’s VH45DE V8 sits ahead of the front axle, loading the nose of a car that’s already pushing close to two tonnes – exactly the layout that starves a rear-wheel-drive chassis of the vertical load it needs at the line. Off the strip, that weight sits in the wrong place for hard launches; the rear tyres need it, not the front.

XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover for the Q45 (Y32) is built to correct that. It’s a weld-in kit – the "WELDING" designation reflects the mounting method rather than a bolt-in top hat – set up to redistribute front-to-rear weight for straight-line launches rather than cornering load, on a 1991-1996 Q45 that was never engineered with drag work in mind.

What this coilover does for your 1991-1996 Infiniti Q45 (Y32) WELDING

Adjusting the kit’s height and preload shifts static weight rearward onto the driven wheels at the moment of launch, which is the mechanism that actually matters for 0-400m runs. More load on the rear tyres means more compression at the contact patch, and more compression means less wheel spin off the line – the Q45 hooks up instead of lighting up the rears and burning the first sixty feet. That same weight transfer also settles the car once it’s moving, cutting down the wandering and instability a stock-height Y32 shows once you’re well past legal road speeds. For a car this heavy, getting that balance right is the difference between a clean run and a wasted one.

About the Drag Racing coilover

This is XYZ Racing’s dedicated 0-400m coilover, built to work across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms rather than being tuned for one drivetrain layout. The core idea is adjustable front/rear weight bias: rather than fixing ride height for looks or cornering grip, the setup lets you load the driven axle harder at launch, forcing the transmission’s tyres into greater compression the instant power goes down. That reduces the idle spin a driven wheel goes through before it finds grip, and it keeps the car settled once it’s carrying speed. On the Y32 it’s fitted as a weld-in kit, which suits a platform this old and this heavy where a bolt-in mount isn’t the right long-term fixing point for repeated hard launches.

Fitment for the Infiniti Q45 (Y32) (1991-1996)

Built specifically for the Y32-chassis Q45 across its full 1991-1996 production run. The weld-in top mount design means fitment is confirmed by chassis code rather than trim variant – if your car is a Y32, the mounting points are the same regardless of spec level.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
