XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FL5 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2023-2026

The FL5 Civic Type R’s dual-axis front struts were engineered to keep the K20C1 turbo’s torque in check on smooth tarmac, but sealed-stage rally roads and fast cross-country routes throw up cambers, mid-corner ruts and surface changes the factory set-up was never calibrated for. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover replaces that damping with a specification tuned for sustained speed over rough, technical asphalt, where load transfer through the front axle needs to stay predictable from one corner to the next.

This is a Tarmac Rally spec, not a fast-road or circuit set-up – it’s built around the demands of closed-road events, where the same bend might be taken flat out into a blind crest or a tightening camber. For an FL5 running full boost through fast rally-style sections, that means damping able to absorb a hard hit without unsettling the platform before the next input arrives.

What this coilover does for your 2023-2026 Honda Civic Type R FL5 (Modified Rr Integrated)

Fitted to your FL5, the first thing you’ll notice is how the car deals with broken and undulating surfaces at speed. Where the standard set-up transmits sharp edges from expansion joints and patched tarmac straight into the chassis, the Tarmac Rally damper is tuned to absorb that impact before it unsettles the body, keeping the contact patch loaded so the tyre keeps gripping instead of skipping. Bigger hits – a sunken drain cover, a ridge at a stage exit – get soaked up rather than kicked back through the wheel, which matters on an FL5 where the rear multi-link geometry is already working hard to keep the back axle following the front under trail braking. The car stays settled through a sequence of corners on imperfect tarmac rather than skipping and needing constant correction. On the road-legal side, that same control makes the FL5 feel planted over a rutted B-road, not just a closed stage.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Tarmac Rally range for competitors and fast-road drivers who spend real time on broken asphalt rather than a smooth circuit surface. The valving is set up to soak up the impact of an uneven road before it reaches the chassis, so a rough section of tarmac doesn’t turn into a jarring, unsettling event through the cabin. Across bigger compressions – a pothole taken at speed, a rain gully cut across a stage – the damper is tuned to control the shock through the body rather than let it bounce, keeping the tyre’s contact patch working and its grip consistent instead of momentary. That control is what underpins the stability drivers actually feel: a car that holds its line rather than one constantly being caught and corrected. The damping itself isn’t a lab exercise – it carries over XYZ’s own Tarmac Rally racing experience into a height- and damping-adjustable kit built for the road-legal FL5.

Fitment for the Honda Civic Type R FL5 (Modified Rr Integrated) (2023-2026)

This kit is built for the Honda Civic Type R FL5, chassis code HN65, covering the 2023 to 2026 model years. It’s specified for the Modified Rr Integrated configuration, so confirm your car matches that rear-end spec before ordering – the FL5’s stiff chassis rewards a valving set-up matched to the exact model rather than a generic one.
