XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Honda ACCORD CU1/2 4 CYL 2008-2012

Loose surfaces punish a road-biased damper fast, and the Accord CU1/2’s saloon proportions don’t help – a big, heavy front-driver moving through ruts and washouts needs a shock that can absorb repeated hard hits without packing down. The Gravel Rally coilover for the CU1/2 4-cylinder is built specifically for that brief: sustained abuse over broken, unpredictable terrain rather than a single hot lap on smooth asphalt.

This isn’t a fast-road or track-day spec dressed up for stages. It’s a damper designed around wheel travel and impact absorption first, so the CU1/2’s nose stays composed when it drops into a compression at speed rather than diving and upsetting the rest of the corner.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Honda Accord

On gravel, the CU1/2’s mass transfers hard under braking and turn-in, and a road-spec damper will blow through its stroke on the first big compression. The long-stroke design here gives the front-driven Accord more usable travel before you run out of shock, which matters when a stage throws a compression you didn’t see coming. The long spring works with that stroke to keep the chassis settled over chattery, high-frequency surface changes instead of skating across them. Because the setup is built to shrug off repeated aggressive impacts rather than one clean lap, the CU1/2 holds its line through washboard sections where a stiffer, shorter-travel setup would start to buck. The net effect on this chassis is a car that stays planted and predictable when the surface underneath it isn’t.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This damper is built specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road surface conditions are more punishing than in any other form of motorsport – sand, snow and silt all place different demands on the shock absorber, which is arguably the single most stressed component in a gravel-stage car. XYZ Racing uses an inverted tube design here to cope with that variability across surface types. Long stroke and long spring geometry work together to soak up chassis vibration, deal with high-speed compressions on bouncy terrain, and handle the extreme cornering loads generated when a car is being thrown sideways on loose surfaces. Every spring rate offered in this range has been set using data from an active rally racing team, so the baseline settings reflect what’s actually needed at stage pace rather than a generic estimate. It’s a construction philosophy built around durability under repeated abuse, not outright stiffness.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
